Landen Roupp Could Make Rehab Start on Sunday
Landen Roupp (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Friday and could make a minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, according to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle. The 26-year-old landed on the injured list on July 25 due to inflammation in his right elbow, but he might only require one or two rehab starts before the Giants return him to their starting rotation. The former 12th-rounder in 2021 should have a spot waiting for him in San Fran's rotation given the fact that he has pitched very well in 2025 with a 3.11 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 95 strikeouts and 42 walks in 101 1/3 inning pitched over 20 starts. Roupp's walk rate isn't ideal, but his sinker-curveball combination and ground-ball tendencies are a perfect combination at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park.Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Shayna Rubin
San Francisco Giants right-hander Jac Caglianone Could Start Rehab Assignment Next Week
Jac Caglianone is doing well, and if everything continues to go well this weekend, he will start a minor-league rehab assignment next week. Caglianone, the sixth overall pick last year out of Florida, should be back with the big-league club by the middle of August as long as he doesn't suffer a setback on his rehab assignment. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound former two-way star has had a tough time adjusting to big-league pitching in his rookie season in 2025, as Cags was hitting just .147 (22-for-150) with five home runs, 10 RBI, nine runs scored and a 34:8 K:BB in his first 41 games. There's no denying that Caglianone has elite power upside, but he's going to need to tweak some things with his approach in order to come out of his first year in the big leagues feeling good at the plate.Source: Joel Goldberg
Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that rookie first baseman/outfielder Luke Raley Starting Rehab Assignment on Friday
Luke Raley (back) is starting a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, according to Seattle Sports' Shannon Drayer. Barring a setback this weekend, Raley could come off the 10-day injured to rejoin the Mariners early next week. The 30-year-old veteran left-handed hitter was put on the shelf in late July due to back spasms. When Raley returns to the M's, he'll battle for playing time in right field with Dominic Canzone against right-handed pitchers, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues will continue to ignore him. In his second year with Seattle, Raley has been a part-time player and has slashed a weak .220/.343/.348 with only four home runs, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and two stolen bases in 170 trips to the plate.Source: Shannon Drayer
Seattle Mariners first baseman/outfielder White Sox Send Jonathan Cannon to Triple-A
Jonathan Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte and recalled right-handed pitching prospect Wikelman Gonzalez from Charlotte in a corresponding move. Cannon gets the boot from Chicago's starting rotation after going 4-9 on the year with a 5.34 ERA (5.25 FIP) and 1.46 WHIP with 76 strikeouts and 35 walks in 96 innings over his 19 appearances (17 starts) in his second major-league season. The White Sox had seen enough after Cannon had allowed at least five earned runs in each of his last three starts. The 25-year-old gave up a season-high seven earned runs on four hits (two homers) in just 1 2/3 innings in his most recent outing on Wednesday against the Mariners. It's unclear who might take his spot in the rotation.Source: Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox announced on Friday that they optioned right-hander Austin Slater to Miss 4-6 Weeks With Hamstring Strain
Austin Slater (hamstring) is slated to miss four to six weeks with his hamstring strain, according to manager Aaron Boone. The Yankees put Slater on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday after he strained his hamstring on Monday. The 32-year-old will be on the shelf for a while after going hitless in seven at-bats with four strikeouts in his first three games in pinstripes after being acquired in a trade with the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline. Before the trade, Slater was hitting just .236 (29-for-123) with five home runs, 11 RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base in 51 games with the White Sox. Slater is not worth stashing in mixed leagues if he's on your roster, and he'll likely be in more of a bench role in the Bronx when he's able to return late in the season.Source: The Athletic - Chris Kirschner
New York Yankees outfielder Chris Sale to Make his First Rehab Start on Tuesday
Chris Sale (ribs) will make his first minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Gwinnett, according to Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Sale came out of his 30-pitch simulated game on Thursday feeling good and has been cleared to take the next step in his rehab from a rib injury that has sidelined him since the middle of June. The 36-year-old former Cy Young winner is expected to require two rehab starts, but after that, Sale should rejoin the Braves' starting rotation for the stretch run. Even though the Braves are in the midst of a lost season, Sale is as competitive as they come and could make a difference for fantasy managers over his last handful of starts. In six starts before landing on the injured list, Sale was especially stingy with a 0.86 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 50 strikeouts and only 13 walks in 41 2/3 innings.Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Gabe Burns
Atlanta Braves left-hander Sal Stewart Dominant Since Joining Triple-A
Sal Stewart has continued to perform at an elite level since moving up to Triple-A. Over his last 11 games at the top level of the minor leagues, Stewart has posted a stellar .400/.468/.800 slash line with seven doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI, and a 4:6 K:BB. Through 18 total games with the Louisville Bats, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com has posted a strong .948 OPS with seven doubles and four long balls. Stewart opened the campaign with Double-A and looked just as dominant, holding a .306/.377/.473 line with 19 doubles, 10 home runs, and 13 stolen bases across an 80-game stint. Even though the Reds recently acquired third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes, Stewart could find a role if the Reds remain in the NL playoff race.Source: MiLB.com

Owen Caissie Remains Red-Hot at Triple-A
Owen Caissie has continued to produce at an elite level at Triple-A. While Caissie's name was discussed in many potential deals at the trade deadline, the Cubs opted to hold on to their budding outfield star. Over his last 11 games with the Iowa Cubs, the former 45th overall pick has posted an elite .366/.426/.561 slash line with five doubles and a home run. Through 88 total games with the top level of the Cubs' MiLB system this season, Caissie has posted a remarkable .281/.381/.557 slash line with 26 doubles, 20 home runs, and three stolen bases. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status. However, given that the Cubs have a crowded outfield in the major leagues, he will likely need several injuries to find a potential spot on their roster. As a result, he is best to leave on your waiver wire in redraft formats.Source: MiLB.com

Lazaro Montes Hits Slump at Double-A
Lazaro Montes has hit a bit of a cold stretch at Double-A. Over his last 12 games, the budding star has posted a modest .167/.245/.310 slash line. During this stretch, he has held a hefty 34.7% K rate and only hit one home run. However, during his first 16 games at Double-A Arkansas, Montes looked quite comfortable, hitting six home runs and holding a solid 19:13 K:BB. Earlier this season, the No. 23-ranked prospect in baseball (according to MLB.com) opened the campaign at High-A and held a .268/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles and 18 round-trippers. Despite the small skid, Montes is a high-end hitting prospect and a top stash in dynasty formats. If he can turn the corner before the season's end, he could remain on track to make his MLB debut late next season.Source: MiLB.com
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Wilmer Flores Still Out on Friday
Wilmer Flores (hamstring) remains sidelined for Friday's series opener against the visiting Washington Nationals at Oracle Park. Dominic Smith is serving as the DH yet again and will hit cleanup against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Flores is missing a sixth straight game due to tightness in his left hamstring. If he is unable to return to action this weekend for the Giants, it's possible he'll be placed on the 10-day injured list. Smith has actually hit a nice .271 (32-for-118) for the year entering Friday's contest, but it has come with only three long balls, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored with the Giants in 39 games played. Smith has gone hitless in three career at-bats against Irvin. He's carrying a current 11-game hitting streak in which he's gone 13-for-37 (.351) with a homer, two doubles, nine RBI and even a stolen base.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants first baseman/designated hitter Drew Gilbert to Make MLB Debut on Friday
Drew Gilbert has been promoted to the major league roster and is slated to bat ninth in his MLB debut on Friday evening when the Giants face the Washington Nationals. Gilbert was traded from the New York Mets earlier this season in a deal that sent relief pitcher Tyler Rogers to Queens. Gilbert was once selected in the first round with the 28th overall pick by the Houston Astros out of Tennessee. Through 87 games at Triple-A this season, spent mainly in Syracuse, Gilbert posted a strong .254/.363/.448 line with an .811 OPS. During this stretch, Gilbert launched 12 home runs and added 18 doubles. During the 2024 campaign, he held a much lower .706 OPS at Triple-A. With Jerar Encarnacion (hamstring) on the 10-day IL, Gilbert could carve out a role for the time being. He is worth adding in all NL-only leagues for the time being.Source: San Francisco Giants
San Francisco Giants outfield prospect Kyle Karros Promoted and Starting on Friday
Kyle Karros is being promoted to the major league roster prior to their contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday evening. In addition, Karros is slated to cover the hot corner and bat in the eight-hole. The 23-year-old is currently considered the No. 8-ranked prospect in the Colorado system on MLB.com. The former fifth-round pick out of UCLA opened the campaign with Double-A but needed only 55 games to prove he was ready to join the top ranks of the Colorado system. Through a short 16-game stint with Albuquerque, Karros posted a stellar .306/.368/.500 slash line with four doubles, one triple, two home runs, and a 12:5 K:BB. He is a name to monitor for now, as he could carve out an everyday role on a Colorado team that recently traded third baseman Ryan McMahon to the New York Yankees.Source: Colorado Rockies
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Wikelman Gonzalez Returning to Major Leagues
Wikelman Gonzalez is slated to rejoin the major league roster before their contest on Friday evening against the Cleveland Guardians. In a corresponding move, the White Sox are sending right-hander Jonathan Cannon to Triple-A. Gonzalez made his MLB debut earlier this summer but logged only five innings across three relief appearances. During this short taste, the right-hander allowed two runs and four hits. Throughout his time with the Charlotte Knights this season, Gonzalez logged 30 innings of relief to the tune of a 4.80 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP. During this stretch, Gonzalez struck out just 28 hitters. Given that he is likely to have a low leverage role in the bullpen, he will carry minimal fantasy value.Source: Chicago White Sox
