Wilmer Flores Still Out on Friday
Wilmer Flores (hamstring) remains sidelined for Friday's series opener against the visiting Washington Nationals at Oracle Park. Dominic Smith is serving as the DH yet again and will hit cleanup against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Flores is missing a sixth straight game due to tightness in his left hamstring. If he is unable to return to action this weekend for the Giants, it's possible he'll be placed on the 10-day injured list. Smith has actually hit a nice .271 (32-for-118) for the year entering Friday's contest, but it has come with only three long balls, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored with the Giants in 39 games played. Smith has gone hitless in three career at-bats against Irvin. He's carrying a current 11-game hitting streak in which he's gone 13-for-37 (.351) with a homer, two doubles, nine RBI and even a stolen base.
