The Boston Red Sox announced on Wednesday that they officially placed outfielder
Roman Anthony (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a left-oblique strain and recalled infielder/outfielder
Nick Sogard from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. Anthony injured himself on a swing during Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians and could end up missing the rest of the regular season, with manager Alex Cora saying he could be out for four to six weeks. It's a tough blow for a Red Sox team in firm playoff contention, as the 21-year-old outfield prospect has hit the ground running after making his MLB debut earlier this year. Masataka Yoshida likely working in a platoon, at least until
Wilyer Abreu (calf) returns from his own IL stint.

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star
Shohei Ohtani was scheduled to start in Wednesday's game on the road against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he's no longer on the bump and will be replaced by right-hander
Emmet Sheehan, according to Kirsten Watson. Ohtani will still serve as the designated hitter and will bat leadoff against right-hander
Braxton Ashcraft. It's unclear why the Dodgers are moving away from the Japanese All-Star as the starting pitcher on Wednesday, but he's obviously healthy enough to hit. We should get a better update from manager Dave Roberts, but for now, fantasy managers won't have Ohtani as a pitcher for their lineups on Wednesday. Sheehan is 5-2 on the year with a 3.56 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 54 strikeouts in 48 innings over his 10 outings (eight starts) and makes for a decent streamer in a plus matchup.

Boston Red Sox infield prospect
Franklin Arias was promoted to Double-A Portland on Tuesday. Boston's top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 23) produced solid numbers between Single-A and High-A, slashing .279/.343/.383 in 106 games, and although he drew walks at just a 7.9 percent rate, he struck out at a minuscule 9.8 percent rate. The Venezuelan is now one of the youngest players at Double-A, joining just a handful of other 19-year-olds at that level, with his age making the youngster's other accomplishments all the more impressive. The right-handed slugger even doubled in his Double-A Portland debut, and should be stashed away in dynasty leagues.

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect
Trey Yesavage was excellent again on Tuesday at Triple-A Buffalo, tossing three shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out six. The Blue Jays' top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 25) has now posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 22.0 percent K-BB% in four appearances (three starts) at Triple-A. He now has 156 strikeouts in 94 2/3 innings pitched this season across three levels of the minors, which is good for a 14.83 K/9. The 6-foot-4 hurler likely won't have an impact in 2025 at the major league level, but expect him to be relevant for fantasy in 2026, and the 22-year-old should be stashed away in dynasty formats as one of baseball's top pitching prospects.

New York Mets catching prospect
Kevin Parada has been promoted to Triple-A Syracuse. The 24-year-old made year-over-year strides on offense, going from a .214 average with a 33.7 percent strikeout rate and .663 OPS in 2024 to a .254 average, 27.8 percent strikeout rate, and .754 OPS in 2025. The former first-round draft pick was the Mets' third-ranked prospect in 2023, but has since fallen outside the top 30.
Francisco Alvarez is entrenched as the team's starter, but has been limited to 56 games this year as a result of both underperformance and injury, so there could be an opportunity for Parada to continue to climb the ladder if he can keep up the momentum.

Toronto Blue Jays outfield prospect
Victor Arias (undisclosed) was placed on the Double-A New Hampshire 7-day injured list on Tuesday with an undisclosed injury. The Jays' ninth-ranked prospect spent time at High-A earlier this year and earned a promotion to Double-A, where things have proven more challenging. The 22-year-old slashed .294/.381/.437 with five home runs and 12 steals at High-A in 66 games, but slashed just .226/.293/.331 with two home runs and six steals in 36 games at Double-A. The left-handed slugger offers plenty of pop and speed, although neither tool has resulted in eye-opening home run or stolen base totals to this point. With an offseason to get healthy, look for the Venezuelan to get back on track in 2026, with an outside shot at a late-season big league call-up if he can get hot early in the campaign.

The New York Mets are considering a few possibilities with struggling right-hander
Kodai Senga, including potentially asking him to accept an optional minor-league assignment, according to people familiar with the team's thinking. However, Senga may not be sent to the minors without his consent, according to his contract. The 32-year-old said on Tuesday that he's willing to do whatever it takes for him to get better and help the team. Another option would be for the Mets to send Senga to the bullpen to try and get him right for the playoffs. He was the runner-up for the National League Rookie of the Year and was an All-Star in 2023. Senga had a 1.39 ERA through his first 14 outings this year, but he's posted a 6.56 ERA in 35 2/3 innings since, and the Mets have plenty of rotation options right now, especially with rookies

San Diego Padres pitching prospect Isaiah Lowe (undisclosed) was placed on High-A Fort Wayne's seven-day injured list on Tuesday. The Padres' 26th-ranked prospect made 22 starts (91 2/3 innings pitched) for the TinCaps this season, posting a 5.69 ERA and an unsightly 1.76 WHIP as opponents held a .293 batting average against him. Combined with a 6.87 K/9 (4.4 percent K-BB%), Lowe has taken a step back compared to the success he had at Single-A in 2024, where he boasted a 3.00 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and an 11.13 K/9 (20.0 percent K-BB%), so depending on the nature of the injury, perhaps it is a blessing in disguise that will allow the 22-year-old to reset and come into 2026 rejuvenated. The 6-foot-1 hurler could end up in the bullpen in the end, and for now, he's off the dynasty radar.

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop prospect
J.J. Wetherholt is not likely to be promoted before the end of the year, although it is not because the team doesn't feel he is ready. The reasoning is more due to the fact that Wetherholt is not currently on the 40-man roster and does not need to be on the 40-man this winter in order to be protected from the Rule 5 draft, however, there are other players the team wants to protect and will use the 40-man roster space on them. It's a bummer from a fantasy standpoint as the Cardinals' top-ranked prospect has performed well enough to be a consideration for a big league call-up and has the skillset to be a multi-category producer once he arrives. Unfortunately, his arrival likely won't be until next spring. Redraft managers who have been stashing in anticipation of a call-up are potentially wasting a roster spot if that comes to fruition.

Cleveland Guardians infielder
Gabriel Arias (hand) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com. Arias was also expected to return on Tuesday, but instead he was held out as a precaution and was available off the bench. The 25-year-old was hit by a 94.7 mph sinker in the second inning on Aug. 29 and exited immediately, although X-rays came back negative. Arias has not started a game since, but he should be back in there on Wednesday at the 6 for Cleveland. Light-hitting
Brayan Rocchio has shifted over to shortstop for the Guards since Arias' injury. Arias isn't much of an offensive force himself and is only valuable in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues as middle-infield depth. He is hitting a paltry .222 (78-for-351) on the year with nine homers, 45 RBI, 36 runs and six steals.

Miami Marlins outfielder
Derek Hill (hamstring) will go on the injured list after suffering a right-hamstring strain while running out a grounder against the Washington Nationals on Monday, and he's not expected to return until next year, according to MLB.com. The Marlins figure to officially place Hill on the IL before their series opener on Friday against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. The 29-year-old outfielder will end his sixth year in the big leagues (first full season with Miami) with a weak .213/.275/.331 slash line, .606 OPS, three home runs, 10 RBI, 19 runs scored and a career-high seven stolen bases in just 53 games played for the Fish. Hill now has a career slash line of .228/.276/.348 with 14 hom runs, 53 RBI and 23 stolen bases in his six MLB seasons with five different teams. The journeyman outfielder won't be on the fantasy radar in 2026.

Texas Rangers outfielder
Adolis Garcia (quadriceps) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday for the series finale against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Rookie
Alejandro Osuna will draw another start in right field for Texas and will hit seventh against Diamondbacks right-hander
Zac Gallen. Garcia will miss a second straight game after suffering a Grade 2 strain to his right quadriceps muscle in Monday's series opener in the desert. It's a day-to-day situation for now, but fantasy managers should not be surprised if Garcia eventually lands on the 10-day injured list. The Rangers are optimistic for now that Garcia will avoid an IL stint, but his absence is likely to extend into this weekend. Osuna will be playing in just his 43rd big-leagu game on Wednesday and has gone 16-for-90 (.178) with just one home run, eight RBI and three steals to begin his MLB career in 2025.

There is a "high probability" that the Boston Red Sox place rookie outfielder
Roman Anthony (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday, a source told Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. Infielder
Nick Sogard is expected to take Anthony's place on the active MLB roster after an MRI exam showed a left-oblique injury. The 21-year-old left-handed hitter injured himelf on a strikout in Tuesday's game at Fenway Park against the Cleveland Guardians and now appears set to miss time. He will be eligible to return on Sept. 13, but given the nature of his injury, it's likely he'll need more time.
Wilyer Abreu (calf) is still on the IL himself, so
Rob Refsnyder and
Masataka Yoshida will likely platoon in the third outfield spot for Boston until Abreu is able to return. It's also possible that Boston uses
Kristian Campbell in the outfield. Anthony needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats.

Miami Marlins right-hander
Janson Junk (elbow) was sharp in his first rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday. Junk threw five innings of one-run, three-hit ball with eight strikeouts and no walks over 61 pitches (45 strikes). That may end up as the lone rehab start for Junk, who has recovered well since he went on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Aug. 24 with ulnar-nerve irritation. He's eligible to return Sept. 8. The 29-year-old control artist has made 17 appearances (12 starts) in the majors this season and gone 6-2 with a 4.09 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, 61 strikeouts, and a paltry 10 walks over 88 innings.

San Diego Padres right-handed reliever
Jason Adam (quadriceps) will undergo season-ending surgery on his ruptured left quadriceps tendon on Wednesday. Adam will require six to nine months to recover, which could keep him out for the beginning of the 2026 campaign. The 34-year-old suffered the injury reacting to a ground ball in a 4-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday and had to be carted off the field. It'll bring an unfortunate end to a terrific year for Adam, an integral part of the Padres' bullpen. He made 65 appearances for the club this season and went 8-4 with a 1.93 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, 70:25 K:BB, and 29 holds in 65 1/3 innings.
