Gabriel Arias Expected to Return on Wednesday
Gabriel Arias (hand) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com. Arias was also expected to return on Tuesday, but instead he was held out as a precaution and was available off the bench. The 25-year-old was hit by a 94.7 mph sinker in the second inning on Aug. 29 and exited immediately, although X-rays came back negative. Arias has not started a game since, but he should be back in there on Wednesday at the 6 for Cleveland. Light-hitting Brayan Rocchio has shifted over to shortstop for the Guards since Arias' injury. Arias isn't much of an offensive force himself and is only valuable in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues as middle-infield depth. He is hitting a paltry .222 (78-for-351) on the year with nine homers, 45 RBI, 36 runs and six steals.
