"High Probability" Roman Anthony Lands on Injured List
Roman Anthony (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday, a source told Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. Infielder Nick Sogard is expected to take Anthony's place on the active MLB roster after an MRI exam showed a left-oblique injury. The 21-year-old left-handed hitter injured himelf on a strikout in Tuesday's game at Fenway Park against the Cleveland Guardians and now appears set to miss time. He will be eligible to return on Sept. 13, but given the nature of his injury, it's likely he'll need more time. Wilyer Abreu (calf) is still on the IL himself, so Rob Refsnyder and Masataka Yoshida will likely platoon in the third outfield spot for Boston until Abreu is able to return. It's also possible that Boston uses Kristian Campbell in the outfield. Anthony needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats. UPDATE: "He's going on the IL. He has an oblique strain. Timetable, we don't know... Usually takes from 4-6 weeks," manager Alex Cora said.
