Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee has continued his dominant stretch in the major leagues. Over his last 11 games in Miami, the 24-year-old has posted a stellar .324/.383/.591 slash line with three doubles, two triples, one home run, and two stolen bases. During this impressive run, Marsee tallied 11 RBI and scored six runs. Through 27 total games in the big leagues, the No. 10-ranked prospect in the system has held a .358/.421/.653 line with four home runs and eight stolen bases. Marsee has generated a stellar .397 xwOBA and a 47.9% LA sweet-spot rate, which suggests he should continue to stay productive in the batter's box. Earlier this season, Marsee held a much lower .817 OPS through 98 games at Triple-A. Given his impressive debut in the big leagues, fantasy managers should continue to view Marsee as a must-start outfielder in all leagues.--Andy SmithSource: MLB.com

Colorado Rockies third base prospect Kyle Karros has enjoyed a productive stretch of offensive production in the batter's box. Over his last 14 games in Colorado, Karros has posted a strong .279/.367/.372 line with a .739 OPS. While he has only hit one home run over this stretch, Karros has racked up 10 runs and added two RBI. Through his first 18 total games in the big leagues, the former fifth-round pick has held a .276 AVG with a .743 OPS. Throughout his first stint in the majors, Karros has seen all his starts at the hot corner. Earlier this season, Karros spent time at both Double-A and Triple-A and carried an overall .301/.398/.476 line with an .874 OPS. Given his solid start to his MLB career, Karros is worth a look in deeper formats if you need a boost in runs and batting average.--Andy SmithSource: MLB.com

Boston Red Sox shortstop prospect Franklin Arias has enjoyed a solid debut campaign at High-A. The 19-year-old began the season at the Low-A level but needed only 19 games with Slem to prove he was ready to join Greenville. Through his first 85 games at the High-A level, the top-ranked prospect in the Boston system has looked relatively comfortable, posting a .265/.327/.383 line with 21 doubles, six home runs, and seven stolen bases. Over his last 13 contests, the No. 33-ranked prospect in the sport (according to MLB.com), has posted a .757 OPS and has only gone hitless three times over this stretch. While he remains several seasons away from his MLB debut, Arias is a name to keep a close eye on as he continues to progress through the Boston system.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

The St. Louis Cardinals are promoting catching prospect Jimmy Crooks to the MLB roster prior to their contest on Friday evening against the Cincinnati Reds. In a corresponding move, the Cardinals are placing catcher Yohel Pozo (concussion) on the 7-day concussion list. The 24-year-old has spent the entire 2025 season at the Triple-A level. Through his first 98 games at the top level of the St. Louis system, Crooks has posted a solid .274/.337/.441 line with 21 doubles, 14 home runs, and a 114:36 K:BB. During this stretch, Crooks has not stolen a base and scored 61 runs and brought in 79 runs. In 2024, Crooks spent his time with Double-A and posted an impressive .908 OPS. Given that Crooks will likely share time with Pedro Pages, he is only worth a look in deep NL-only formats.--Andy SmithSource: Derrick Goold

San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts (foot) has suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left foot and is expected to go on the injured list, according to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. A foul ball struck the 32-year-old in his left foot during Wednesday's contest. However, Bogaerts has suffered a serious injury and is in danger of missing an extended period. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status over the final month of the regular season. Bogaerts has had an everyday role in the San Diego starting nine this season, posting a .262/.330/.387 with 10 home runs and 20 stolen bases. While Bogaerts is held out of action, fantasy managers should expect veteran Jose Iglesias to see most of the opportunities at shortstop.--Andy SmithSource: Kevin Acee

Chicago White Sox rookie shortstop Colson Montgomery (side) is back at shortstop and is hitting cleanup for Game 2 of the series against the visiting New York Yankees and left-hander Carlos Rodon on Friday. A left-side injury kept Montgomery out of action for the last two games, but he'll return for the start of the weekend after also dealing with a similar issue last week. The 23-year-old former 22nd overall pick in 2021 has gone just 35-for-152 (.230) in his first 43 big-league games this year, but he's also produced 14 home runs and 37 RBI in 165 plate appearances as the team's shortstop of the future. Montgomery has homered in each of his last four games, but it will be tough to keep that impressive streak alive on Friday in a tough lefty-lefty matchup. In 44 trips to the plate against southpaws, Montgomery has hit .167 (7-for-42) with three homers and nine strikeouts.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Houston Astros catcher Yainer Diaz is back behind the plate and will hit seventh for Friday's series opener against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Tyler Anderson at Daikin Park. Diaz missed the last two games of the series against the Colorado Rockies this week with a hand injury but is good to go to begin the weekend series against the Halos. The 26-year-old backstop has faced Anderson 13 times in his career and is hitting .231 with a .517 OPS. The Dominican catcher is having another fine season as Houston's starting catcher, though, batting .257 (114-for-444) with 18 home runs, 55 RBI and 46 runs scored in 116 games played. Diaz will also enter Friday's series opener with a modest five-game hitting streak that has seen him go 7-for-19 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in 22 plate appearances.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

The Chicago White Sox announced on Friday that they placed infielder Miguel Vargas (hand) on the 10-day injured list with a left-hand sprain and recalled rookie first baseman Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. With Vargas heading to the IL, Curtis Mead will make the start at third in Friday's contest against the visiting New York Yankees and will bat fifth against left-hander Carlos Rodon. Vargas injured his hand in Thursday night's loss to New York when he was involved in a collision at first base. With Chicago's season practically already over, fantasy managers shouldn't be holding out hope that the 25-year-old will return before the end of the season. The Cuban infielder does have a career-high 14 home runs in his first full season on the South Side, but he's also hit a pedestrian .234/.315/.404 with 52 RBI, 69 runs and four steals in 121 games.--Keith HernandezSource: Chicago White Sox

Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement (finger, shin) remains out of action for Friday's series opener against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. Addison Barger will make another start at the hot corner and will hit second against Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Clement was involved in a collision at third base in Tuesday's game. He suffered a hairline fracture in his left middle finger and also needed 10 stitches in his left shin. The 29-year-old didn't play on Wednesday and won't be available to start the weekend series at the Rogers Centre, although he's being considered day-to-day for now. Barger should continue to play third base for Toronto while Clement heals up. Barger has plenty of power with 18 long balls on the year in 379 at-bats, and he's also contributed 61 RBI and 55 runs scored. He has never faced Peralta in his career.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Washington Nationals rookie outfielder Daylen Lile (illness) is feeling good enough to return to the starting nine for Friday's series opener against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Lile is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth against Rays right-hander Adrian Houser. The 22-year-old will make his return to the field after missing almost a week while being under the weather. The left-handed-hitting outfielder will return to a .263/.312/.396 slash line in his first 63 MLB games with the Nats in 2025. He should be in the starting lineup daily for the rest of the season against right-handed pitchers, making him fantasy relevant in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues, primarily for his speed. Lile has produced three home runs, 12 doubles, four triples, 22 RBI, 31 runs and seven steals in 239 plate appearances.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (hand) is back in the starting lineup for Friday's big series opener against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers at the Rogers Centre. Kirk is doing the catching and will bat sixth against Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Kirk took a foul tip to his right hand during Tuesday's game and was held out of Wednesday's contest as a precaution. After a day off on Thursday, the 26-year-old Mexican backstop will return for the weekend series against Milwaukee. Kirk made his second All-Star appearance this year and is having one of the finest years of his career, slashing .299/.363/.424 with a .787 OPS, 11 home runs, 60 RBI and 38 runs scored in 107 games. He's currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-13 with a homer, double, four RBI and five runs scored.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

The Boston Red Sox optioned outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia to Triple-A Worcester on Friday and recalled infielder Nick Sogard from Worcester in a corresponding move, according to Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. The BoSox called up Nixon, nicknamed The Password, on Aug. 22, but he did very little in his limited time in the big leagues, going 1-for-7 at the plate with a double and five strikeouts. The club's third-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will go back to the farm for now, but there's a good chance he'll be brough back up to the big leagues for the stretch run when MLB rosters expand on Monday, Sept. 1. The 22-year-old Venezuelan has hit a strong .289/.363/.512 in 99 games with Worcester and Double-A Portland this year with 20 homers, 73 RBI and six steals and has some of the best raw power in Boston's system.--Keith HernandezSource: MassLive.com - Chris Cotillo

The Boston Red Sox released right-hander Walker Buehler on Friday, sources tell Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. Buehler began the 2025 campaign with the Red Sox in their starting rotation, but the 31-year-old veteran was recently moved to the bullpen due to inconsistent results on the bump. He now finds himself on the open market heading into the final month of the regular season. Boston will eat what is left of Buehler's $18.05 million for this season and pay a $3 million buyout on his 2026 option. In 23 appearances (22 starts) in his only year in Beantown, Buehler went 7-7 with a 5.45 ERA (5.88 FIP) and 1.56 WHIP with 84 strikeouts and 55 walks in 112 1/3 innings pitched. The two-time All-Star was one of the best pitchers in baseball with the Dodgers through 2021, but he just hasn't been the same since his second Tommy John procedure in 2023.--Keith HernandezSource: MassLive.com - Chris Cotillo
