Red Sox Release Walker Buehler
Walker Buehler on Friday, sources tell Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. Buehler began the 2025 campaign with the Red Sox in their starting rotation, but the 31-year-old veteran was recently moved to the bullpen due to inconsistent results on the bump. He now finds himself on the open market heading into the final month of the regular season. Boston will eat what is left of Buehler's $18.05 million for this season and pay a $3 million buyout on his 2026 option. In 23 appearances (22 starts) in his only year in Beantown, Buehler went 7-7 with a 5.45 ERA (5.88 FIP) and 1.56 WHIP with 84 strikeouts and 55 walks in 112 1/3 innings pitched. The two-time All-Star was one of the best pitchers in baseball with the Dodgers through 2021, but he just hasn't been the same since his second Tommy John procedure in 2023.
