Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Max Scherzer (back) is reportedly improving each day and remains on track to start Saturday against the New York Yankees. The 41-year-old tossed 67 pitches across four innings against the Milwaukee Brewers last Sunday before exiting with back tightness, but he has maintained his regular between-start routine and expects the injury to be minor. Scherzer owns a 4.11 ERA across 13 starts in his first season with Toronto after signing a one-year, $15.5 million deal. The Blue Jays hope he can deliver meaningful innings down the stretch in October.--Julian Brooke
