Kings to Work Out Keaton Wagler Ahead of Draft
The Sacramento Kings will work out Illinois guard Keaton Wagler next week, Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor reports. The visit lines up with Sacramento's need for a lead guard and its No. 7 pick, a range Wagler is expected to land in after ESPN and The Athletic slotted the consensus All-American around No. 5. The 6-foot-6 combo guard averaged 17.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on strong efficiency while powering Illinois to its first Final Four in 21 years. For dynasty and rookie-draft managers, Wagler profiles as a high-floor bet: his shooting, feel, and playmaking should earn early minutes wherever he lands, with comparisons ranging from Ty Jerome to CJ McCollum. A thin frame and lack of burst cap the ceiling, but a guard-needy Sacramento would hand him a clear runway to production.
