Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (hand) is back in the starting lineup for Friday's big series opener against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers at the Rogers Centre. Kirk is doing the catching and will bat sixth against Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Kirk took a foul tip to his right hand during Tuesday's game and was held out of Wednesday's contest as a precaution. After a day off on Thursday, the 26-year-old Mexican backstop will return for the weekend series against Milwaukee. Kirk made his second All-Star appearance this year and is having one of the finest years of his career, slashing .299/.363/.424 with a .787 OPS, 11 home runs, 60 RBI and 38 runs scored in 107 games. He's currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-13 with a homer, double, four RBI and five runs scored.--Keith Hernandez
