Alec Bohm to Start Rehab Assignment on Sunday
Alec Bohm (ribs) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Lochlahn March. Bohm is trying to return from a fractured left rib that has kept him out since July 19. It's unclear how many rehab games the 29-year-old will require, but if he's feeling good after games this weekend, there's a chance he could come off the 10-day injured to rejoin the major-league squad at some point next week. With Bohm sidelined, the Phillies have been mixing and matching at the hot corner with rookie Otto Kemp and veteran utility infielder Edmundo Sosa. Bohm still makes plenty of contact and has hit .278 (98-for-353) in 92 games this year, but his power has never been anything special and he hit eight long balls in 383 plate appearances before his trip to the IL.Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Lochlahn March
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Jameson Taillon Making Another Rehab Start on Friday
Jameson Taillon (calf) is making another minor-league rehab start on Friday with Triple-A Iowa, according to Taylor McGregor of Watch Marquee. The Cubs wanted to see Taillon make another start down on the farm after he surrendered seven runs in just three innings of work in his last rehab start. If the 33-year-old veteran looks better and comes out of Friday's start without suffering a setback, it's very possible he'll be activated from the injured list in order to rejoin Chicago's starting rotation for the stretch run. The former first-rounder by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2010 has been inconsistent this year in his 17 starts at the big-league level and offers minimal fantasy upside with a 7.0 K/9 in 95 1/3 innings. Taillon has a 4.44 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 74:20 K:BB on the year in his third season on the North Side.Source: Watch Marquee - Taylor McGregor
Chicago Cubs right-hander Thairo Estrada Moved to 60-Day Injured List
Thairo Estrada (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list on Friday, which means that he won't be back with the team the rest of the season after straining his right hamstring in Tuesday's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Estrada also got a late start to the year with the Rockies and ended up hitting a mediocre .253/.285/.370 with a .655 OPS, three home runs, 21 RBI, 14 runs scored and a stolen base in his 154 at-bats for Colorado. Former prospect Adael Amador is starting at second base in the series opener in Arizona against the Diamondbacks on Friday, but Aaron Schunk could also factor in at the keystone for the last-place Rockies going forward with Estrada on the shelf. Amador has hit .176 (24-for-136) with a homer and eight RBI in 47 games in the big leagues since making his debut in 2024.Source: Rockies Club Information
The Colorado Rockies transferred infielder Yordan Alvarez Still in Coach's BP Stage of Hitting Progression
Yordan Alvarez (hand) is still in the coach's batting practice stage of his hitting progression, according to manager Joe Espada. Alvarez hit in the cages on Friday and is scheduled to hit on the field in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Saturday. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger has not played in a major-league game this year since May 2 due to a lingering hand injury, but if he's able to keep making progress, the Astros expect that he'll return to the roster in the middle of August. Alvarez's hand injury was likely a big reason he was hitting only .210 (21-for-100) with three home runs, 18 RBI and seven runs in the early portion of the season. The three-time All-Star has the ability to carry a fantasy offense when he's right, but the big question is whether Alvarez will be right again in 2025.Source: Houston Chronicle - Matt Kawahara

Josh Naylor Won't Return on Friday
Josh Naylor (shoulder) is out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays at T-Mobile Park. Donovan Solano will man first base and hit seventh for the M's against Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen. Naylor was pulled from Thursday's win over the Chicago White Sox early due to soreness in his left shoulder and he'll miss the first game of the series against Tampa as a result. Fantasy managers should consider the 28-year-old lefty slugger day-to-day for the time being. Since being acquired in a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Naylor has gone 12-for-46 (.261) with three home runs, a double, six RBI, 10 stolen bases and eight runs in only 13 games. Naylor was a first-time All-Star in 2024 and is already at a career high for steals in 2025 with 21.Source: MLB.com
Seattle Mariners first baseman Trevor Larnach Still Hurting on Friday
Trevor Larnach (side) is absent from the starting lineup on Friday in the series opener against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Target Field. Mickey Gasper will draw into the lineup as the designated hitter and will bat ninth for the Twins against Royals right-hander Seth Lugo. Larnach will miss a second straight game after he was scratched on Wednesday with soreness in his left side. The 28-year-old wasn't feeling good enough to play on Friday after a scheduled day off on Thursday. This is the type of injury that could certainly require an injured-list stint if he doesn't recover quickly. The switch-hitting Gasper should be avoided as a DFS sleeper in the nine-hole. The 29-year-old has never faced Lugo and has gone just 7-for-42 (.167) with no homers and four RBI this year in a limited role.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins outfielder Jake Burger Activated and Starting on Friday
Jake Burger (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder Alejandro Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Burger will be the team's designated hitter on Friday and bat seventh in the series opener against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies and tough left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. The 29-year-old Burger is returning for the first time since July 16 due to a left quadriceps strain. The former first-rounder by the Chicago White Sox in 2017 out of Missouri State should play regularly in Texas between DH and first base. Burger hit 34 home runs in 2023 and nearly returned to the 30-homer mark last year, so he has plenty of pop, but also a lot of swing and miss. He's returning to a .228/.259/.401 slash line with 11 home runs, 35 RBI and 33 runs in 75 games in his first year in Texas.Source: Texas Rangers PR
The Texas Rangers activated infielder Yoan Moncada Reinstated From Restricted List
Yoan Moncada from the restricted list on Friday and optioned infielder Niko Kavadas to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Moncada is back with the Halos, but he won't start in Friday's series opener in Detroit against the Tigers. Luis Rengifo is at third and will bat sixth against Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal. The 30-year-old Moncada was away from the team in order to get his U.S. citizenship. The Cuban switch-hitter should play occasionally for the Angels at third base now that he's back. Moncada can provide a little bit of pop but hasn't provided a whole lot of anything for fantasy managers in deeper leagues in 2025. He's returning to a weak .221/.320/.436 slash line with a .756 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI and 24 runs scored in only 48 games in his first year in Anaheim.Source: Angels PR

Ryan Mountcastle Activated and Starting Against A's
Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) was activated from the 60-day injured list on Friday and he is serving as the designated hitter while batting fifth in Friday's series opener against the visiting Athletics at Camden Yards. With Mountcastle back, the 28-year-old right-handed hitter should see starts between DH and first base. He has been away from the big-league team since May 30, though, and there's no guarantee he'll find his groove after struggling to a .246/.280/.348 slash line with two home runs, 15 RBI and 19 runs scored in 187 at-bats before his injury. But Mountcastle should play regularly with the disappointing O's the rest of the way, especially after both outfielders Colton Cowser (concussion) and Tyler O'Neill (wrist) landed on the injured on Friday. Mountcastle has never faced A's Friday starter J.T. Ginn.Source: MASN Sports - Roch Kubatko
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Willson Contreras Back for Cardinals on Friday
Willson Contreras (illness) is feeling better on Friday and is starting at first base and hitting third in the series opener at Busch Stadium against the division-rival Chicago Cubs and left-hander Matthew Boyd. Contreras was held out of Wednesday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodger and then had an off day on Thursday. He's feeling better now and will take the field against the tough lefty Boyd, who he has hit only .091 in 11 at-bats against. The 33-year-old former catcher has hit well against southpaws in 2025, though, and is slashing .258/.343/.451 with a .794 OPS, 16 home runs, 64 RBI, 57 runs and four stolen bases in 399 at-bats on the year. Contreras has gone 5-for-17 with a double, two home runs, three RBI and five runs in only five games so far in the month of August.Source: MLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Shelby Miller Back From Injured List, Ready for Brewers Debut
Shelby Miller (forearm) from the 15-day injured list and sent left-hander Robert Gasser (elbow) to Triple-A Nashville on a minor-league rehab start in a corresponding move. Miller was acquired by the Brewers to bolster their bullpen at the July 31 trade deadline but has yet to make his debut with his new club. Prior to the trade and his injury, the veteran right-handed had become the Diamondbacks' primary closer in the desert. Miller has been great this year with a 1.98 ERA, 10 saves and eight holds in his 36 1/3 innings, but he figures to lose plenty of fantasy appeal with the move to Milwaukee because he'll likely serve in a late-inning setup role in front of closer Trevor Megill. Still, Miller will continue to have value in holds leagues if he continues to pitch like he was before his forearm setback.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Friday that they reinstated right-handed reliever Brewers Place Logan Henderson on Injured List With Elbow Inflammation
Logan Henderson (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 4) with right-elbow inflammation and recalled right-hander Tobias Myers from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Henderson ended up making only one start this past Sunday in place of rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski (leg), but now he'll join him on the IL and might not be ready to return in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, Myers will give the Brewers rotation depth until Misiorowski is ready to return from a minor injury. Henderson is in his rookie season in the big leagues but has been strong in the early going with a 3-0 record, 1.78 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 33:8 K:BB in 25 1/3 innings pitched over his five starts. However, he may stay down in the minors when he's past his shoulder issue.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Friday that they placed right-hander Nacho Alvarez Jr. Back in Starting Lineup
Nacho Alvarez Jr. (side) is starting at third base and is batting eighth in the second game of the series on Friday against the division-rival Miami Marlins and right-hander Edward Cabrera at Truist Park. Alvarez dealt with some side soreness on Wednesday and sat out the season opener on Thursday against Miami. The 22-year-old will return to the lineup this weekend and will play regularly at the hot corner in Atlanta with Austin Riley (abdomen) back on the injured list. Alvarez has gone 3-for-10 since replacing Riley a second time at third base, but he doesn't offer much fantasy upside offensively, especially at the bottom of a struggling Braves lineup. On the season, he's gone 9-for-40 (.225) and is still searching for his first homer going into his 21s career MLB game.Source: MLB.com
