St. Louis Cardinals infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan (undisclosed) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. There is no word on why Donovan was scratched yet. He was set to leadoff and play second base, but will now hit the bench. Lars Nootbaar will take over in the leadoff spot while Thomas Saggese covers second base versus right-hander Colin Rea on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

New York Mets right-hander Tylor Megill (elbow) came out of a live batting practice session on Thursday unscathed and could begin a rehab assignment soon, according to manager Carlos Mendoza. Megill has been down since mid-June with a sprained right elbow, which interrupted a solid first half of the season for the 30-year-old. Despite a high walk rate (4.35 per nine), Megill recorded a respectable 3.95 ERA with an eye-opening 89 strikeouts over 68 1/3 innings in his first 14 starts of the season. A return doesn't seem imminent, but if the struggling Frankie Montas doesn't turn things around, a healthy Megill could replace him in the Mets' rotation.--Connor ByrneSource: SNY

New York Mets right-hander Paul Blackburn (shoulder) made another rehab start at the Triple-A level on Friday and built up to 97 pitches. Blackburn lasted 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts against no walks. Blackburn, on the IL since July 3 with a shoulder impingement, has made four straight starts at Triple-A and yielded six earned runs across 22 1/3 innings. It has been a much different story in the majors, though, as opposing offenses have tattooed Blackburn for a 7.71 ERA over six appearances (four starts) and 18 2/3 frames. The Mets are still deciding whether he'll make another rehab start.--Connor ByrneSource: MiLB.com

New York Mets reliever Reed Garrett will serve as the opener in their game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. Right-hander Frankie Montas is expected to work as the Mets' bulk reliever, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Garrett hasn't lasted more than two innings in any of his 48 appearances this year, but he has pitched to a sterling 2.51 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and 54:22 K:BB over 46 2/3 frames. Montas, on the other hand, has fared poorly across seven appearances (all starts). The 32-year-old has a 6.68 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP, 29 strikeouts, and 10 walks in 33 2/3 innings. After allowing five or more earned runs in back-to-back starts, the Mets will try him out of the bullpen Saturday.--Connor ByrneSource: Will Sammon - The Athletic

The Toronto Blue Jays will continue to evaluate outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) "week-to-week" as he recovers from inflammation in his left shoulder, manager John Schneider told reporters. Santander has been on the injured list since May 30, and while he has made progress, he's still not ready to swing a bat. The Jays are holding out hope that Santander will play again this year, but there's no question his first season in Toronto has been a massive letdown. After signing a five-year, $92.5 million contract in free agency last offseason, the former Baltimore Oriole has produced a brutal .179/.273/.304 line with six home runs and 18 RBI in 50 games and 209 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

Kansas City Royals second baseman/outfielder Michael Massey (ankle, wrist, back) will begin a Triple-A rehab assignment on Saturday, the team announced. Massey went on the 10-day injured list with a sprained ankle back on June 7, but other issues have set him back in the two months since then. He suffered a hairline wrist fracture on a hit by pitch on June 29, which forced the Royals to shut him down. Massey then restarted a rehab assignment, but the Royals had to remove him from it Aug. 2 after he experienced back tightness. After a recent injection, Massey will attempt to work his way back to the majors once again. The 27-year-old has hit an unsightly .202/.221/.258 with two home runs in 209 plate appearances this season.--Connor ByrneSource: Kansas City Royals

San Francisco Giants first baseman/designated hitter Wilmer Flores (hamstring) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Washington Nationals. Rafael Devers will DH and bat second, while Dominic Smith will man first base and hit cleanup versus right-hander Brad Lord. Flores hasn't played since Aug. 1 because of left-hamstring tightness, but the Giants have opted against putting him on the 10-day injured list. Smith, Flores' replacement, will head into Saturday's game riding a 12-game hitting streak. He has gone 15-for-41 (.366) with one homer, nine RBI, and six runs scored in that span.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

Miami Marlins infielder Otto Lopez and outfielder Heriberto Hernandez will both start on the bench for Game 1 of their Saturday doubleheader against the division-rival Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. Javier Sanoja is starting at shortstop and is batting eighth, while Dane Myers will start in left field and bat out of the six-hole versus Braves right-hander Hurston Waldrep. Lopez has hits in each of his last three games but has gone only 5-for-29 (.172) with a double, RBI and a stolen base in the first eight games in the month of August. The rookie Hernandez hit his seventh homer of the year in Friday's game and has swung it very well in his first 44 MLB games in 2025, batting .311 (38-for-122) with seven long balls, 22 RBI and 21 runs scored. The 25-year-old should continue to see regular playing time for the Fish going forward.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Kansas City Royals rookie right-hander Ryan Bergert will make another start for the team on Sunday in the series finale in Minnesota against the division-rival Twins at Target Field. Bergert was acquired from the San Diego Padres at the July 31 trade deadline and allowed two earned runs on two hits while walking two and striking out two in 5 2/3 innings in his Royals debut against the Boston Red Sox on Aug. 5. The 25-year-old former sixth-round pick by the Padres in 2021 out of West Virginia will get another start with his new team, but after that he could be bumped from the rotation with veteran Michael Lorenzen (oblique) nearing his return. Bergert hasn't been anything special in his first MLB season in 2025, but he's more than held his own with a 2.83 ERA (4.15 FIP) and 1.11 WHIP while walking 20 and striking out 36 in 41 1/3 innings over 12 outings (eight starts).--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he doesn't have a specific timeline for when outfielder Aaron Judge (elbow) will return to the outfield, according to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. A report earlier this week suggested that Judge could return to right-field duties either this weekend or early next week, but now it sounds as though the Yankees are in no rush to put him back out there after he spent some time on the injured list with a flexor strain in his right elbow. Giancarlo Stanton is making his first start of the year in the outfield on Saturday against the Astros with Judge still being eased in as the designated hitter. Since returning from the IL on Wednesday, Judge has gone 2-for-10 with an RBI, walk and four strikeouts. Fantasy managers could really care less about when Judge returns on defense, and he remains a must-start in all fantasy lineups.--Keith HernandezSource: New York Daily News - Gary Phillips

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is not in the lineup for his team's game against the Houston Astros on Saturday. With Aaron Judge limited to designated hitter duties due to a right flexor strain, Giancarlo Stanton is starting in right field for New York. That pushes Cody Bellinger to left field and Dominguez to the bench. In 374 plate appearances so far this season, Dominguez is hitting .255/.332/.391 with nine home runs, 37 RBI, 50 runs scored, and 19 stolen bases. With Stanton now in the outfield mix, Dominguez could be at increased risk of losing playing time, particularly against left-handed pitching. The 22-year-old is a switch-hitter, but he's hitting just .198 with one home run in 102 plate appearances from the right side of the plate this season.--Will BradySource: MLB.com

Miami Marlins reliever Anthony Bender has been placed on the paternity list, meaning he could miss the remainder of his team's weekend series against the Atlanta Braves. Miami recalled right-hander Tyler Zuber from Triple-A Jacksonville to take Bender's place on the roster. In 47 innings (48 games) so far this season, Bender has pitched to a 2.30 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 38 strikeouts, three wins, and three saves. The 30-year-old has mostly been used in a setup role in 2025, but he's also a candidate to log the occasional save in a Miami bullpen that uses multiple relievers in the ninth inning.--Will BradySource: Miami Marlins
