Baltimore Orioles catcher prospect Samuel Basallo went 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and four RBI in Tuesday's 12-1 blowout win against Triple-A Rochester. Basallo did damage at the plate all night and has continued his dominant season. The 20-year-old is hitting a ridiculous .278/.386/.612 in 293 plate appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. The quality of contact is absurd for a player of his age playing at Triple-A, with a 55.7% hard hit rate, 20.6% barrel rate, and a 115.9 mph MaxEV. He's paired it with the ability to make contact at an above-average rate and display good swing decisions. The sky is the limit for Basallo, who should be making his MLB debut anytime now. Orioles general manager Mike Elias has expressed his desire to get the stud prospect exposure to big league pitching, and he is a priority stash in standard fantasy leagues.--Kyle McCarthySource: MiLB.com

Atlanta Braves right-hander Joe Jimenez (knee) has been shut down from throwing after experiencing discomfort in his surgically repaired left knee during his rehab in Florida. Jimenez has spent the entire 2025 season on the 60-day injured list following offseason knee surgery to remove some loose cartilage. There is no set timeline for his return, as the Braves are waiting for the issue to settle before reassessing. The 30-year-old reliever was a key bullpen piece in 2024, posting a 2.62 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts across 68 2/3 innings in his second year with Atlanta.--Julian BrookeSource: Grant McAuley

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) is scheduled to make another rehab start this Saturday, with likely one more to follow before manager John Schneider considers a call-up. Bieber was acquired at the trade deadline from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for right-hander Khal Stephen. The 30-year-old has not pitched since April 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery and is expected to make a return in late-August. Bieber spent six and a half seasons with Cleveland and owns a career 3.22 ERA with 958 strikeouts across 843 innings. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 2020 and could be an elite late-season addition.--Julian BrookeSource: Keegan Matheson

Detroit Tigers right-hander Reese Olson (shoulder) has already been ruled out to return to the mound this year. Olson will not require surgery for his right shoulder strain, but was given a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection for his shoulder. A PRP injection involves using the player's blood, spinning it down, and reinjecting the "good stuff" back into the affected joint in hopes of speeding up healing time. If this works, surgery will remain off the table for the 26-year-old. He did pitch well in his 13 starts this season, going (4-4) with 65 strikeouts in 68 innings to the tune of an ERA of 3.15 and WHIP of 1.21. Olson looks to be healthy going into spring training in 2026 and is ready to build off of this year.--Dr. Reuven GuySource: Evan Petzold

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Kevin Ginkel (shoulder) is seeking a second opinion on his right shoulder sprain, raising concerns that he could miss the rest of the season. Ginkel was placed on the 15-day injured list on August 4 and has not set a timeline for his return. The 31-year-old has struggled in his seventh MLB season, posting a 7.36 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP across 25 2/3 innings. He was 3-for-4 in save opportunities and recorded six holds before the injury stalled his 2025 campaign. His loss would weaken a pitching staff that already ranks 25th in the league with a 4.55 ERA.--Julian BrookeSource: Alex Weiner

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (quad) has begun a running progression in his rehab from a right quad strain. The Tigers placed Meadows on the IL on July 28, and it is a good sign for him to be running already. The 25-year-old missed time earlier in the year with a nerve issue in his throwing arm and has been limited to 38 games this season. He is slashing .200/.270/296, with only two home runs and three stolen bases. Fantasy managers in deep leagues can continue to stash Meadows as he will likely return sometime in August. Matt Vierling has been starting in centerfield for the Tigers and should continue to see an uptick in at-bats with Meadows sidelined.--Dr. Reuven GuySource: Cody Stavenhagen

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue will "likely have a role on third down" this year, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. Blue has been one of the most impressive offensive players at training camp this summer for the Cowboys. However, Javonte Williams is finally healthy and is "showing why Denver was so high on him after drafting him in 2021." Additionally, Miles Sanders has looked good, so the expectation is that Williams and Sanders will dominate early-down carries for Dallas, at least early in the 2025 campaign. Fantasy managers in 12-team leagues may not be drafting Blue this fall, but the 21-year-old should be on watch lists, especially in PPR formats. The fifth-rounder has displayed elite speed and pass-catching ability out of the backfield, which has earned him some time with first-team offense in camp.--Keith HernandezSource: Sports Illustrated - Albert Breer

Atlanta Braves right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) has recently resumed playing catch and remains without a timeline for a return. Lopez had arthroscopic surgery for his throwing shoulder on April 1 and was cleared to start throwing again after the All-Star break. He is still in the early stages of his rehab program. If Lopez does not begin throwing off a mound within the next two weeks or so, there may not be enough time left in the season for Lopez to return as a starter. There is a chance he could pitch out of the bullpen in September in lieu of part of his rehab assignment. Otherwise, it will be a lost season for Lopez, who converted from a reliever to a starter last season.--Dr. Reuven GuySource: David O'Brien

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated writes that it's a good sign of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens in head coach Brian Schottenheimer's offense that the coaches have been able to "move him around to different receiver spots after he was exclusively an X receiver (split end) in Pittsburgh." Pickens and CeeDee Lamb worked out together in Florida in the offseason, and new receivers coach Junior Adams "has had the two working off each other constantly to try and build culture in his room." Things didn't end well for Pickens with the Steelers, but the early signs going into his first year in Dallas are "pretty good." The 24-year-old former second-rounder has had at least 801 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. He's going to take a back seat to Lamb in this offense, but in what should be a pass-happy scheme, Pickens has lots of upside as a WR3/flex in fantasy in his new home.--Keith HernandezSource: Sports Illustrated - Albert Breer

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno (hand) has resumed swinging a bat and has started tee work after an August 4 CT scan confirmed his right hand had fully healed. Moreno landed on the injured list on June 19 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 18 after suffering a hairline fracture in his right hand from a foul tip on June 6. He is expected to make a return in mid-August. The 25-year-old was slashing a productive .270/.324/.414 with a .738 OPS over 53 games prior to the injury. His return would provide a much-needed boost to a Diamondbacks team losing postseason hopes in the NL West.--Julian BrookeSource: Alex Weiner

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) is on the 60-day injured list with a fracture in his pitching elbow. Braves manager Brian Snitker said Monday that Schwellenbach has not yet to resume throwing and appears unlikely to pitch again in 2025. There is no official timeline for his return, and he will need an extended build-up program to get back on the mound this year for the Braves. With Atlanta out of the playoff picture, the Braves do not need to push Schwellenbach back this year. If his season is over, Schwellenbach will finish the year with a (7-4) record, 3.09 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, while averaging close to a strikeout per inning.--Dr. Reuven GuySource: David O'Brien

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Tyler O'Neill (wrist) exited Tuesday's game against the Phillies in the bottom of the sixth inning with right-wrist discomfort. He was replaced in right field by 29-year-old Ryan Noda. O'Neill went 0-for-2 with a popout and a groundout before leaving. The 29-year-old slugger from Canada is slashing .210/.293/.434 with eight home runs through 43 games. He has struggled to stay in the lineup consistently, and with his health once again in question, the Orioles will be without one of their top right-handed power threats for at least the near future. UPDATE: O'Neill said X-rays came back negative on his wrist after he jammed it on the wall. He taped up his wrist and had another at-bat before eventually being pulled from Tuesday's game. O'Neill will see how he feels on Wednesday.--Julian BrookeSource: Jake Rill

Seattle Mariners' right-hander Bryce Miller (elbow) is set for his second rehab outing in Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday and should throw around 65 pitches. He threw 52 pitches in his last rehab start and continues to build up his workload. If all goes well, Miller could be activated as early as August 12th for his first in the majors since June. The 26-year-old has been on the injured list with elbow inflammation and looks to turn things around after posting a 1.54 WHIP before landing on the IL. Miller has had control issues this year, evidenced by his 4.25 BB:9 in 2025, compared to 2.25 last year. Even though his ERA for this year stands at 5.73, he has been a tad unlucky with a BABIP of .322, which is above league average. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Miller, who is likely to return to Seattle's rotation in mid-August.--Dr. Reuven GuySource: Daniel Kramer

Now entering his fourth year in the NFL, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin has mostly made his mark as a return man. However, the 29-year-old will "be more involved in the offense this year than at any other time over the last three seasons," according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer, previously the team's offensive coordinator, is looking to utilize Turpin more as both a receiver and a runner. The 5-foot-9, 153-pounder set career highs in catches (31), targets (52), and yards (420) last season. He also added two receiving touchdowns and carried the ball 16 times for 92 yards. Those aren't exciting numbers, but the Cowboys believe the speedster has the explosiveness to take on a bigger role.--Connor ByrneSource: Jon Machota - The Athletic

Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles (shoulder) has been out since early April with a small fracture in the humeral head of his left shoulder. He is now scheduled to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on August 12. This puts the 28-year-old ahead of schedule for his expected return, and the Mariners are aiming for Robles to get 40-50 at-bats before being activated from the injured list. Dominic Canzone has been filling in for Robles in the outfield and looks to share playing time when Robles returns. Fantasy managers looking for speed could add Robles, as he swiped 34 bags last year and had three bases stolen in 10 games this year before his injury.--Dr. Reuven GuySource: Daniel Kramer

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller will be ready for Week 1, agent Drew Rosenhaus declared. "I don't think there's any doubt that Darren will be ready for the start of the regular season," Rosenhaus told Josh Moser. Waller sat out last season after announcing his retirement, but the Dolphins surprisingly acquired him in a trade with the New York Giants in July. The 32-year-old has since ended his retirement to play for Miami, but he's on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list and working back into game shape. Waller is expected to serve as Miami's No. 1 tight end, replacing the departed Jonnu Smith. The Dolphins heavily relied on Smith last year during an 88-catch, 111-target, eight-touchdown campaign. That could bode well for Waller if he's still capable of serving in a starting role. In 2023, his most recent season, he played in 12 games and caught 52 of 74 targets for 552 yards and a touchdown.--Connor ByrneSource: Josh Moser

Offseason free-agent addition Jameis Winston is listed as the New York Giants' No. 2 quarterback behind starter Russell Wilson on the team's first unofficial depth chart. First-round pick Jaxson Dart, the 25th overall selection from Ole Miss, checks in at No. 3 ahead of Tommy DeVito. It doesn't come as a surprise that Winston is second on the depth chart, though Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News notes that the rookie has typically gotten second-team reps ahead of the veteran in practice. Wilson is sure to open the season as New York's starter, but either Winston or Dart could grab the No. 2 job with a strong preseason. The Giants open their exhibition schedule in Buffalo on Saturday.--Connor ByrneSource: Pat Leonard

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is starting to look like a star at training camp, according to Nate Atkins of the Indianapolis Star. Mitchell struggled with drops in the first week of practices, but he's put that behind him and is now having a strong summer heading into the preseason opener this week. The 22-year-old former second-rounder (52nd overall) in 2024 had only 23 receptions on 55 targets for 312 yards and no touchdowns in 17 games (seven starts) in his rookie campaign. It's not a surprise that Mitchell struggled given the inconsistency at the quarterback position for the Colts last year, but the problem is it might not get much better in 2025. He'll be battling for the WR3 role next to Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs. Mitchell is one to keep an eye on, but given that volume and efficiency could be problems, he'll go undrafted in 12-team fantasy leagues.--Keith HernandezSource: Indianapolis Star - Nate Atkins

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters on Tuesday that he's unsure if superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons will play in the team's Week 1 matchup on Sept. 4 against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. Parsons hasn't fully participated in any of the Cowboys' training camp practices, and he publicly requested a trade last Friday. However, Jones has been insistent that the Cowboys are not trading Parsons, who's entering the last season of his contract and wants a new deal. If the standoff continues into the regular season, it would cause major harm to the Cowboys' defense. Parsons has amassed between 12 and 14 sacks in each of his four seasons in the league. On the other hand, Parsons' absence would be great news for the Eagles' offense and fantasy managers who are relying on any of the reigning Super Bowl champions' skill players in Week 1.--Connor ByrneSource: Clarence Hill

The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar writes that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba "plays everywhere" and is a "threat everywhere." Additionally, he's being targeted from everywhere in training camp practices. The 23-year-old former 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft out of Ohio State broke out in his second year in the league in 2024 and was Seattle's most productive wideout, outshining both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett with 100 catches on 137 targets for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns in 17 games (16 starts). Heading into his third year, he'll share targets with newcomer Cooper Kupp with both Metcalf and Lockett no longer in town. It's great news that JSN is being targeted all around the field, but will he be as effective with new quarterback Sam Darnold. Fantasy managers should be willing to pay the price of a WR2 to find out.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Michael-Shawn Dugar

While speaking on the Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said he wouldn't be surprised if rookie first-round two-way player Travis Hunter won both Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2025. The Jaguars traded up to No. 2 overall to select the 22-year-old Heisman Trophy winner out of Colorado back in April, and they made it no secret that they absolutely plan on using Hunter on both offense and defense in his first year in the league. Jacksonville prioritized Hunter learning the offense this spring and early in training camp, but he's now working on both offense and defense every day at practice. Hunter should have close to a starter's workload on offense right away, which means he could be the WR2 right away behind Brian Thomas Jr. Still, Hunter could be a boom/bust WR3/flex as more of a specialist on offense than a staple.--Keith HernandezSource: Rich Eisen Show

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales said that wide receiver Hunter Renfrow (hamstring) is running and cutting, but Canales doesn't want Renfrow practicing just yet. The Associated Press' Steve Reed says it sounds like the Panthers are just being extra cautious with a veteran wideout that didn't play at all in 2024 due to health issues. Renfrow is unlikely to play in the team's preseason opener this week, but barring a setback with his hamstring, he has plenty of time to get ready for the Week 1 regular-season opener in early September. He has missed a week's worth of training camp practices, which isn't exactly helping his cause as he looks to win a roster spot going into the regular season. Renfrow is a slot specialist but could be behind both Adam Thielen and rookie Jimmy Horn Jr. at the position if he makes the active roster.--Keith HernandezSource: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Seattle Mariners outfielder/first baseman Luke Raley (back) will start a hitting progression on Tuesday and will hopefully start a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend, according to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Raley was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 30 with back spasms but he is working way back and could rejoin the Mariners as early as next week, barring a setback during his rehab assignment this weekend. When the 30-year-old left-handed slugger returns, he'll be searching for playing time between designated hitter and right field for the M's when they face right-handed pitchers. Raley's inconsistent playing time and mediocre bat don't make him much of an option for fantasy managers in mixed leagues. He's currently hitting just .220/.343/.348 with four home runs, 18 RBI and 19 runs scored in his 49 games for Seattle.--Keith HernandezSource: The Seattle Times - Ryan Divish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Grayson Rodriguez (elbow) said on Foul Territory on Tuesday that he will be able to go into the offseason healthy and have a normal build-up going into spring training next year. "In about a month and a half to two months, I should be back to throwing bullpens," Rodriguez said. The 25-year-old will end up not pitching at all for the Orioles in 2025 and will have a right-elbow debridement surgery early next week. Rodriguez has flashed high-end rotation stuff already in his two seasons in the majors, but he will go into 2026 as a serious health risk after missing a good chunk of time in 2024 with arm issues as well. The 25-year-old former 11th overall pick in 2018 will surely come at a discount next year in fantasy drafts and will be a great value pick if he can actually stay healthy. G-Rod has a 4.11 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 25.7% strikeout rate in his 43 MLB starts.--Keith HernandezSource: Foul Territory

Tampa Bay Rays rookie outfielder Chandler Simpson (finger) is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game in Anaheim against the hosting Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jose Soriano, starting in left field and batting leadoff. It Will Simpson's first game starting since he sprained his left index finger in last Thursday's game against the New York Yankees. The 24-year-old should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups for his speed alone now that he's back in action. Since he was called back up to the majors in late May, he's been excellent, slashing .311/.351/.368 with four RBI, 13 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 30 games. Simpson is a great catalyst for Tampa's lineup in the leadoff spot and should continue to help with runs scored and steals in fantasy as a lineup regular the rest of the 2025 season. He has never faced Soriano in his career.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Athletics rookie shortstop Jacob Wilson (forearm) is playing catch and running but hasn't yet been cleared to start a hitting progression, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. Wilson is making slow progress after being diagnosed with a fractured left forearm two weeks ago. At this time, there is no timetable for his return, so fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if we don't see the 23-year-old until later this month or even in September. In the meantime, Darell Hernaiz has become useful in AL-only leagues with elevated playing time as the primary shortstop. Although Wilson is a candidate for regression at the plate once he returns from injury, the former sixth overall pick has had a very successful first season in the majors with a .312 average (115-for-169) with 10 homers, 45 RBI, 46 runs and five stolen bases. Keep him stashed in an IL spot in fantasy leagues.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Martin Gallegos

Chicago White Sox rookie infielder Chase Meidroth (thumb) will take another day off for Tuesday's contest on the road in Seattle against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Josh Rojas will make the start at the keystone and will hit ninth against Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo. Meidroth was hit by a pitch on his thumb last week and hasn't started since, although he did appear as a defensive replacement in Sunday's contest. The 24-year-old shouldn't have to go on the injured list after X-rays on his thumb came back negative. In his first season in the major leagues, Meidroth has slashed .252/.330/.319 with only three home runs, 15 RBI, 36 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 84 games for the last-place White Sox. He's really only useful in AL-only leagues for his speed. Rojas has very little DFS upside in the nine-hole and should be avoided.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com
