Reynaldo Lopez Still in Early Rehab Stages
Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) has recently resumed playing catch and remains without a timeline for a return. Lopez had arthroscopic surgery for his throwing shoulder on April 1 and was cleared to start throwing again after the All-Star break. He is still in the early stages of his rehab program. If Lopez does not begin throwing off a mound within the next two weeks or so, there may not be enough time left in the season for Lopez to return as a starter. There is a chance he could pitch out of the bullpen in September in lieu of part of his rehab assignment. Otherwise, it will be a lost season for Lopez, who converted from a reliever to a starter last season.
