Shane Bieber Set for Rehab Start Saturday, Blue Jays Debut Drawing Closer
Shane Bieber (elbow) is scheduled to make another rehab start this Saturday, with likely one more to follow before manager John Schneider considers a call-up. Bieber was acquired at the trade deadline from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for right-hander Khal Stephen. The 30-year-old has not pitched since April 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery and is expected to make a return in late-August. Bieber spent six and a half seasons with Cleveland and owns a career 3.22 ERA with 958 strikeouts across 843 innings. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 2020 and could be an elite late-season addition.
