Kemp Alderman Boasts Southern League Player of the Week Honors
Kemp Alderman earned Southern League Player of the Week honors for his performance at Double-A Pensacola from July 28 through August 3, the third time this season that the Marlins' eighth-ranked prospect has garnered the award. The former second-round draft pick went 9-for-22 (.409) with two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, three runs scored, a stolen base, and a 3:5 BB:K in six games for the Blue Wahoos. The 22-year-old is slashing .287/.336/.452 on the year, with 12 home runs and 17 steals in 88 games. He should get some at-bats at Triple-A by the time the season is over, and could be knocking on the door to the majors next season. His power potential is what makes him intriguing for fantasy, but the newfound base-stealing acumen (his previous high was five) adds another dimension to his appeal.Source: MiLB.com
Miami Marlins outfield prospect Reds Place Nick Lodolo on Injured List With Finger Blister
Nick Lodolo (finger) on the 15-day injured list with a blister on his left index finger and recalled right-hander Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Lodolo left his start early on Monday night against the Chicago Cubs in the second inning due to a blister and will now miss at least the next two weeks. The fact that the 27-year-old has dealt with blister issues in the past isn't a great sign, either. In the meantime, fantasy managers should look to hang onto him in an IL spot. Right-hander Nick Martinez is the likely candidate to take Lodolo's spot in Cincy's starting rotation, and he won't be a bad waiver-wire pickup in deep-mixed leagues with the opportunity. Lodolo is now 8-6 on the year with a nice 3.05 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with a career-low 23.6% strikeout rate in 129 2/3 innings.Source: Cincinnati Reds
The Cincinnati Reds announced on Tuesday that they placed left-hander Alfonsin Rosario Earns Promotion to Double-A
Alfonsin Rosario has been promoted to Double-A Akron after a solid showing at High-A Lake County. The Guardians' 11th-ranked prospect slashed .268/.362/.490 with 16 home runs (led all Midwest Leaguers) and 12 steals in 82 games for the Captains. The 21-year-old struck out at a 25.1 percent rate, although it was a vast improvement on the 32.2 percent rate he recorded last season at Single-A, so it's something to keep an eye on at the next level. The former sixth-rounder is still likely a couple of years away from the majors, and he will have to cut down on the swing-and-miss if he's going to get there any sooner.Source: Guardians Prospective
Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Ben Hess Promoted to Double-A Somerset
Source: Somerset Patriots
New York Yankees pitching prospect Ben Hess has been promoted to Double-A Somerset. The Yankees' 2024 first-round draft pick did not pitch with an affiliate after being drafted last year and has spent the entirety of 2025 with High-A Hudson Valley. New York's seventh-ranked prospect posted a 3.51 ERA (2.62 FIP), a 1.14 WHIP, and a strong 22.0 percent K-BB% in 15 starts (66 2/3 innings pitched). The walk rate of 11.9 percent was a bit high, but impressively, the 6-foot-5 hurler allowed just two home runs all season, which helped to limit damage. The 22-year-old has the potential to develop into a top-of-the-rotation pitcher, so it's worth monitoring his progress.Alvin Kamara Won't Play in Preseason Opener

Buccaneers Officially Sign Teddy Bridgewater
Teddy Bridgewater to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday after he passed his physical, a source tells NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Kyle Trask will be the backup to starter Baker Mayfield, but with Michael Pratt still not practicing in training camp, Bridgwater will give the team additional depth at the position and a veteran presence in the QB room. The 32-year-old retired from the NFL before last season but then quickly changed his mind and signed with the Detroit Lions in late December. Bridgewater didn't get into a regular-season game last year while serving as an emergency option for the Lions behind Jared Goff and Hendon Hooker. He did take three snaps in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Bridgewater remains off the fantasy radar.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially signed free-agent quarterback Shelby Miller Starting Rehab Assignment
Shelby Miller (forearm) was sent on a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville, according to the team. Miller is working his way back from a strained right forearm, but barring a setback on his rehab assignment, he could join his new team soon after the Arizona Diamondbacks traded him at last week's deadline. With Trevor Megill entrenched as the team's primary closer in Milwaukee, the 34-year-old Miller is going to lose considerable fantasy value with the move to his new team, although he should still be in play in leagues that count holds in a high-leverage, late-inning setup role. Miller has had an excellent season with the D-backs, posting a 1.98 ERA (3.14 FIP), a 0.96 WHIP, a career-high 10 saves and a 40:11 K:BB in 36 1/3 innings pitched in 2025.Source: Milwaukee Brewers

Cam Sanders Being Called up from Triple-A for Debut
Cam Sanders is being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis for what will be his major league debut whenever he enters a game. The 6-foot-2 hurler was drafted in 2018, and after a long journey, he will finally get a shot in the big leagues. The 28-year-old has pitched well in relief this year, his first in the Pittsburgh organization, but has shown even better results at Triple-A, posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and a strong 25.0 percent K-BB% in 18 2/3 innings pitched (15 appearances). The righty will likely fill a middle relief role for the Pirates, though, so there isn't much fantasy relevance here.Source: Tommy Birch

Tyrone Tracy Jr. is 100 Percent the RB1 in New York
Tyrone Tracy Jr. is 100% the team's unquestioned RB1 going into the 2025 season. "There is no competition," Raanan said. There have been questions around how much work Tracy will share with rookie Cam Skattebo (hamstring), who recently injured his hamstring. But Raanan says that Skattebo wasn't even really involved on the first-team offense before his hamstring injury late last week. When healthy, it appears that Skattebo will be more of a complementary piece in New York's backfield rather than a true threat to take significant touches away from Tracy. Tracy is the Giants' RB1, and with Skattebo now dealing with an injury, it might make things even more difficult for Skattebo to gain traction early on. Securing RB1 duties will help Tracy's cause as an RB3/flex in fantasy with upside.Source: ESPN New York - Jordan Raanan
ESPN's Jordan Raanan said on Sirius XM Fantasy Radio that New York Giants running back Packers Have Confidence in Chris Brooks as RB2
Chris Brooks can't do and also expressed confidence in Brooks as the team's RB2 behind Josh Jacobs with both Emanuel Wilson and MarShawn Lloyd out with injuries currently at training camp. Brooks and Wilson stepped up behind Jacobs in 2024 with Lloyd playing in just one game in his rookie season due to injuries. The 25-year-old Brooks handled only 36 rushing attempts for 183 yards and a touchdown, although he averaged over five yards per carry for the second straight season. He added 11 catches for 69 yards on 13 targets in 15 regular-season games (no starts). While it's nice that Green Bay has confidence in Brooks to back up Jacobs if needed, he's not going to be very relevant in fantasy unless both Wilson and Lloyd aren't ready to go for the start of the regular season.Source: Marques Eversoll
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said there's nothing that running back Matthew Golden Still Running With Starters in Two-Receiver Sets
Matthew Golden continues to run with the first-team offense in two-receiver sets in training camp practices. Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks have been sidelined at camp with minor injuries, but Golden's presence in two-receiver sets is notable nonetheless, especially with Christian Watson (knee) expected to begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. It's still a crowded receiver room in Green Bay with Reed, Wicks and Romeo Doubs, but the 22-year-old Golden brings 4.29-second 40-yard dash speed to an offense with a young and ascending quarterback in Jordan Love at the helm. At the very least in his rookie season, Golden should serve as the team's primary deep threat until Watson returns, making him an intriguing WR4/flex candidate right away.Source: Andy Herman
Green Bay Packers rookie first-round wide receiver Tucker Kraft Back on the Field on Tuesday
Tucker Kraft (groin) is back at Tuesday's training camp practice after missing time with a groin injury. Kraft took a step forward in Year 2 in 2024 with 50 catches on 70 targets for 707 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 regular-season games for the Packers. The 24-year-old could have an even bigger role in the passing game in his third NFL season, making him a popular breakout candidate in 2025 at a weak position in fantasy. There are a lot of receivers vying for targets in Green Bay with receiver Christian Watson (knee) potentially missing half the season, but if Kraft is utilized more downfield, he should be a lock to finish among the top-10 TEs in total fantasy points. There's a lot to like about Kraft's yards-after-the-catch ability, as he produced an average of 9.6 YAC last year, which led all tight ends.Source: Marques Eversoll
Green Bay Packers tight end Liam Hendriks Expects to Return This Season
Liam Hendriks (hip) was unlikely to return this season. It turns out that Hendriks does expect to come back, as he told reporters on Monday that Cora's statement was "a slip of the tongue." The Red Sox have gone most of 2025 without Hendriks, who didn't debut until late April after recovering from Tommy John surgery and hasn't pitched since May 27 as a result of hip inflammation. When he has been healthy enough to pitch this season, the 36-year-old has struggled to a 6.59 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP, 12 strikeouts, and seven walks in 13 2/3 innings. Hendriks, a three-time All-Star, could rejoin Boston's bullpen in September.Source: Chris Cotillo - MassLive.com

Jayden Higgins Listed as Starter on First Unofficial Depth Chart
Jayden Higgins was listed as a starter next to Nico Collins and Christian Kirk. As we always say, take unofficial depth charts with a grain of sand in the preseason. It's a good sign for the 22-year-old second-rounder, but it hardly guarantees him a big role right away in his first NFL season in Houston. The Iowa State product was productive in college and showed plenty of athleticism at the scouting combine in February. The problem is that Collins should continue to be a target hog through the air in an offense with a shaky offensive line. It's possible that Higgins could continue ascending and leapfrog Kirk for WR2 duties, but that will likely take time. Consider Higgins a decent late-round dart throw for receiver depth in fantasy drafts.Source: ESPN.com - DJ Bien-Aime
The Houston Texans released their first unofficial depth chart of the preseason on Tuesday, and rookie wide receiver Jake Bird Demoted to Triple-A
Jake Bird to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. It's not official yet, but the team is expected to activate fellow reliever Mark Leiter Jr. (leg) from the 15-day injured list to take Bird's spot. Along with David Bednar and Camilo Doval, the right-handed Bird was one of three relievers the Yankees added at the July 31 trade deadline in an effort to build an elite bullpen. So far, the Bird acquisition has been a flop. The former Colorado Rockie has made three appearances for the Yankees and surrendered six earned runs on seven hits (two homers) with four strikeouts and two walks over two innings. After giving up a walk-off three-run homer to Rangers third baseman Josh Jung on Monday, Bird owns a 5.53 ERA and a 1.54 with 66:25 K:BB across 55 1/3 frames.Source: New York Yankees
The New York Yankees announced that they have optioned reliever Brendan Rodgers Begins Light Jogging, Throwing
Brendan Rodgers (head) remains in concussion protocol, but he has begun light jogging and throwing. Rodgers originally went on the 10-day injured list in mid-June with an oblique strain. In his first Triple-A rehab game on July 18, he suffered more serious injuries - a concussion and a nasal fracture - after colliding with a teammate. The Astros then transferred Rodgers to the 60-day IL, meaning he won't be eligible to rejoin the club until Aug. 17. That date appears unrealistic, though, as Rodgers remains without a timetable to return. Before going on the IL, the 28-year-old hit just 191/.266/.278 with two home runs in 128 plate appearances. The Astros have used a handful of players at the keystone this season, but longtime second baseman Jose Altuve has gotten the lion's share of time there lately after opening 2025 in the outfield.Source: Matt Kawahara - Houston Chronicle
Houston Astros second baseman Mike Gesicki Won't Play in Preseason Opener
Mike Gesicki (undisclosed) will not play in the preseason opener on Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles due to an undisclosed injury, according to Ben Baby of ESPN. Gesicki said he'd be questionable but optimistic if it was a game week during the regular season. The Bengals will play their starters for a little bit on Thursday, but Gesicki won't be included while he manages what is likely a minor injury. The 29-year-old appeared to injure his leg during a scrimmage over the weekend on Saturday, but fantasy managers will want to check back for more updates on Gesicki. Hopefully, he's back on the field again sooner than later. A longer than expected absence would open up more playing time for new TE Noah Fant. When healthy, Gesicki is merely a low-end TE2 in fantasy while being overshadowed by bit-time receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby
Cincinnati Bengals tight end Nestor Cortes to Make Padres Debut on Wednesday
Nestor Cortes (elbow) will make his team debut Wednesday with a start against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It'll also be the first appearance in the majors since April 3 for Cortes, who was on the shelf with an elbow strain for four months. The Padres acquired Cortes from Milwaukee at the July 31 trade deadline in a deal that saw the Brewers land outfielder Brandon Lockridge. San Diego has since activated Cortes from the 60-day injured list. Cortes has made two starts and allowed eight earned runs in eight innings this season, but the 30-year-old does have a solid track record in the bigs. He totaled 30 starts in 31 appearances for the New York Yankees in 2024 and put up a 3.77 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP, 162 strikeouts, and 39 walks over 174 1/3 innings.Source: MLB.com

Marquise Brown Still Not Practicing
Marquise Brown (ankle) remains absent at training camp practice on Tuesday, according to Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride. While the Chiefs continue to say that Hollywood's ankle injury isn't serious, it's now been a week since he last practiced. It means that the 28-year-old will almost certainly be held out of the team's preseason opener this Saturday against the Arizona Cardinals. Brown still has plenty of time to get ready for the start of the 2025 regular-season opener in early September, but this is a reminder of the fact that he only played in two regular-season games in 2024 in his first year with the team due to injury. When all of the Chiefs' pass-catchers are healthy, Brown might be quarterback Patrick Mahomes' fourth target behind Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and tight end Travis Kelce.Source: Arrowhead Pride - Pete Sweeney
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Baker Mayfield Back at Practice on Tuesday
Baker Mayfield (hand) is back at training camp practice on Tuesday after missing two days last week with a hand contusion that he suffered when he hit a teammate's helmet on a follow-through. Mayfield's injury was never considered serious and he'll be ready to go when the regular season kicks off in early September. The 30-year-old former first overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2018 out of Oklahoma has been a Pro Bowler each of the last two seasons in Tampa as the starter, but he'll have a new offensive coordinator yet again in 2025. He threw for a career-high 4,500 passing yards and 41 touchdowns last year while also leading the league with 16 interceptions. The Bucs should continue to be a pass-happy offense, and Mayfield has lots of weapons. For the expected volume alone, Mayfield has low-end QB1 value in fantasy.Source: FOX Sports - Greg Auman
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Cade Cavalli to Start for Nationals on Wednesday
Cade Cavalli from Triple-A Rochester to start against the Athletics on Wednesday, Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan reports. It'll be the first appearance in the bigs for Cavalli since he made one start in 2022. The former first-round pick from the 2020 draft missed all of 2023 and most of 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Cavalli, 26, has come back to make 15 starts and throw 65 innings at the Triple-A level this season, but he has posted a bloated 6.09 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP and 72 strikeouts against 27 walks. While Cavalli doesn't look like a great option against an Athletics offense that ranks 12th in wOBA and 14th in runs scored, the out-of-contention Nats want to give him another look in the majors post-surgery.Source: Grant Paulsen
The Washington Nationals will call up right-hander Rams, Kyren Williams Agree to Three-Year Extension
Kyren Williams agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension on Tuesday, including $23 million in guarantees, according to agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus. Williams gets rewarded with a new deal after topping 1,000 yards rushing in each of the last two seasons with the rams. Last year in 16 regular-season starts, the 24-year-old had a career-high 316 carries for 1,299 rushing yards and a career-best 14 rushing touchdowns, adding a career-high 34 receptions on 40 targets for another 182 yards and two scores. The numbers were great for fantasy purposes, but Williams wasn't as efficient as his Pro Bowl season in 2023, and second-year RB Blake Corum could see more involvement in 2025. It will be hard for Williams to ever be as efficient as he was in 2023 if Corum becomes more involved. He's on the RB1/2 borderline in RotoBaller's rankings.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
The Los Angeles Rams and running back Jordan Mason a "Massive" Part of Minnesota's Offseason Plan
Jordan Mason was viewed as a "massive" part of Minnesota's offseason plan, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell. During the spring, the Vikings acquired Mason via a trade. During the 2024 campaign, Mason emerged as a key contributor to the San Francisco rushing attack when Christian McCaffrey was sidelined. On a career-high 153 carries, Mason tallied 789 yards and three scores. During the first seven weeks, Mason flashed RB1 upside as he averaged a strong 14.8 PPR points per game and averaged 95.3 yards per game during this stretch. In addition, reports from Vikings camp suggest the team views him and veteran Aaron Jones as "Co-RB1s." While Jones will likely see the slight majority of carries, Mason possesses much higher upside given his age and speed. He is worth viewing as a standalone flex option and a high-upside handcuff if Jones were to miss time.Source: The Coachspeak Index
Minnesota Vikings running back A.J. Brown Not Practicing on Tuesday, Eagles Remain "Cautious"
A.J. Brown (hamstring) is not participating again in practice on Tuesday. However, Zach Berman of PHLY noted that the team is likely exercising caution with their top wideout given that we are still in the early stages of the preseason. However, fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status in case this injury begins to linger as we approach the regular season. In 2024, Brown posted his third-straight 1,000-yard campaign as he brought in 1,079 yards on just 67 receptions across 13 games. He found the back of the end zone seven times and posted a strong 16.1 YPR. Despite playing in a run-focused offense spearheaded by superstar Saquon Barkley, Brown remains a solid WR1 in all leagues given his ability to find the back of the end zone.Source: Zach Berman

Nate Hobbs Will Miss the Rest of the Preseason
Source: Rob Demovsky
Green Bay Packers cornerback Nate Hobbs (knee) had knee surgery on Saturday but could still be ready for his Packers debut in Week 1 against the Lions, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. He will miss the preseason, though, after undergoing the procedure to repair a partial meniscus tear. Hobbs played the first four seasons of his career with the Raiders and signed a big four-year deal worth $48 million with the Packers. He missed six games last season and 16 over the last three seasons combined because of ankle injuries, a hand injury, and illness. Injuries were a big part of why the Packers parted ways with star cornerback Jaire Alexander this offseason, and Hobbs is expected to help replace Alexander. While this may not be an injury that impacts his regular-season availability directly, it could be a bad sign if it's the start of a trend.
