JP Sears Optioned to Minors
JP Sears has been optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. Sears gave up five earned runs on 10 hits across five innings of work during his team debut on Monday. This rough outing pushed him to a 5.12 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 101/30 K/BB ratio across 23 starts this season. The expectation is that Sears will be back at some point during the season. For now, right-handed reliever Sean Reynolds has been recalled to take his spot on the active roster. Sears isn't someone that needs to be rostered while he sits in the minors.Source: San Diego Padres
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Cristian Javier Making Rehab Start on Tuesday
Cristian Javier (elbow) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, according to manager Joe Espada. Javier should be close to returning to the big leagues. He threw 64 pitches over the course of a 3.1 inning outing on July 31. If everything goes well on Tuesday, Javier should hopefully be able to rejoin the Astros rotation after this start. The right-hander hasn't pitched at all this season while recovering from Tommy John surgery from last year. Javier is probably worth a stash in deep leagues with his return looming.Source: Chandler Rome
Houston Astros starting pitcher Yoan Moncada Placed on Restricted List
Yoan Moncada has been placed on the restricted list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Moncada will be away from the team in order to take his U.S. citizenship test. It's unclear when he'll be back with the team, but he shouldn't be gone longer than a game or two. In a corresponding move, infielder Niko Kavadas has been recalled from Triple-A. Oswald Peraza will take over the hot corner for Moncada during Tuesday's game.Source: Angels PR
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Roman Anthony to Return on Wednesday
Roman Anthony (back) will return to the starting lineup on Wednesday, according to manager Alex Cora. Anthony will miss his second straight game on Tuesday due to back tightness. Cora did mention that Anthony could've played on Tuesday, but the organization wants to be cautious with their 21-year-old star in the making. Masataka Yoshida will draw the start in left field during Tuesday's game. Fantasy managers should make sure to get Anthony out of their lineups on Tuesday, but at least they'll have him on Wednesday.Source: Marcos Grunfeld
Boston Red Sox rookie outfielder Jonnu Smith Dealing With Knee Soreness
Jonnu Smith (knee) left Tuesday's training camp practice early with knee soreness, but head coach Mike Tomlin said it doesn't seem like a serious injury. Smith himself downplayed his injury when talking to reporters, so it's likely the 29-year-old will be back on the field in a few days. He had a career year in 2024 with the Miami Dolphins and made his first Pro Bowl appearance while catching 88 of his 111 targets for 884 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 games (six starts). Smith was the beneficiary of Miami's disappointing dink-and-dunk offense a year ago, and fantasy managers reaped the benefits. A year later after his trade from Miami to Pittsburgh, Smith is going to go undrafted in standard-sized 12-team leagues as he attempts to split playing time with Pat Freiermuth. Freiermuth is expected to be the team's primary pass-catching option at TE.Source: Penn Live - Nick Farabaugh

Anthony Molina Recalled, Starting on Tuesday
Anthony Molina has been recalled to take the mound against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. The Rockies are in need of a pitcher with Kyle Freeland (illness), Antonio Senzatela (finger) and German Marquez (biceps) all banged up at the moment. This will be Molina's first start of the season with the Rockies, but he made a handful of bullpen appearances before this. He has pitched well in the minors, but isn't a recommended streaming option against a tough Blue Jays offenseSource: mlb.com
Colorado Rockies pitcher Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry Won't Play in Preseason Game on Thursday
Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry will not play in the team's preseason opener on Thursday night against the Indianapolis Colts, according to head coach John Harbaugh. The head coach said the Ravens will determine if Jackson and Henry will play in any preseason games at all. Neither superstar is dealing with an injury, but the Ravens will continue to be cautious with their best players in exhibition games. The 28-year-old Jackson did not play at all in the preseason last year and still had the finest year of his career as a passer with 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions in 17 regular-season games. He also rushed for 915 yards and four TDs on the ground. Jackson is RotoBaller's QB2 in fantasy, while King Henry sits as the RB5. The combination of both Jackson's and Henry's legs make Baltimore's offense elite.Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Gleyber Torres Scratched from Tuesday's Lineup
Gleyber Torres (forearm) was scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. This seems like a precautionary decision considering there was no word of Torres dealing with any injuries coming into this game. There should be more information on his status later. For now, fantasy managers should consider Torres as day-to-day. Zach McKinstry will slide over to second base and bat seventh versus right-hander Zebby Matthews. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.Source: mlb.com
Detroit Tigers second baseman Raiders to Play Their Starters in First Preseason Game
Geno Smith this offseason. Smith made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023 and has worked with Carroll before, but in terms of his weapons alone, the move from Seattle to Vegas was a downgrade fantasy-wise. The Raiders could be much more of a run-first offense with first-round running back Ashton Jeanty now in town under new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. Outside of tight end Brock Bowers and receiver Jakobi Meyers, Smith isn't going to have a ton to work with through the air. Consider the 34-year-old as a low-end QB2 for superflex leagues.Source: Raiders.com - Levi Edwards
Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said that the team will play their starters in the preseason opener on Thursday night against his former team, the Seattle Seahawks. Marvin Harrison Jr. Back at Practice
Marvin Harrison Jr. (knee) was back at the team's training camp practice on Tuesday while wearing a sleeve on his left leg, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN. Harrison returns after missing three practices with a sore knee. The Cardinals plan to play some of their starters for the first preseason game this Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs, but Harrison could be held out as a precaution. The 22-year-old former fourth overall pick last year out of Ohio State didn't exactly live up to his high draft stock in fantasy football in Year 1, but he still finished with a 62-885-8 line in 17 games (16 starts) in his first year in the league. If the added muscle and strength that Harrison added this offseason can help him be more of a threat after the catch, he could very easily improve on last year's numbers as Arizona's WR1.Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Devin Neal to Miss a Few Weeks With Hamstring Injury
Devin Neal (hamstring) will miss a few weeks due to a hamstring injury, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. It's the worst possible time for a rookie to have to sit out, and it means that Neal will miss the preseason opener this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers and most likely Week 2 of the preseason against the Denver Broncos. The 21-year-old is attempting to win a depth role heading into his first year in the NFL behind starter Alvin Kamara. The Saints plans to hold Kamara out of Sunday's preseason contest, so it will be Kendre Miller, Cam Akers and Clyde Edwards-Helaire splitting up the touches. For the 2025 season, Neal should strictly be considered a dynasty/keeper stash.Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill
New Orleans Saints rookie running back Juwan Johnson Limited in Training Camp Practice
Juwan Johnson (groin) was wearing a jersey but wasn't in full pads for Tuesday's training camp practice as he continues to be limited, according to Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. Johnson is dealing with a minor groin injury that he sustained last week in practice, but he might be held out of the team's first preseason game this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers as a precaution. It makes more sense for the Saints to be careful with the 28-year-old with both tight ends Taysom Hill (knee) and Foster Moreau (knee) unlikely to be ready for the start of the 2025 regular season. While Johnson does have a clear path to TE1 duties for the Saints this year, he should go undrafted in 12-team fantasy leagues with all the uncertainty surrounding who the team's quarterback will be.Source: NewOrleans.Football - Mike Triplett

Jalen Nailor Should See Increased Early-Season Role
Jalen Nailor is in a position to see an elevated workload early in the 2025 season with fellow wideout Jordan Addison set to serve a three-game suspension. While Addison won't be prohibited from practice or even preseason games, this sets the stage for Nailor to garner a stronger rapport with second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The 26-year-old was a training camp standout in 2024 and made a few highlight plays early in the campaign before tailing off as the season wore on. It's unknown how the Vikings offense will look with McCarthy at the helm, though Minnesota seems to be all in on him, and that counts for something. If he's the real deal, Nailor could have some sneaky low-end WR3 value in PPR formats -- at least for the first few weeks. He's currently an afterthought in drafts.Source: ESPN
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Kenneth Walker III Returns to Tuesday's Practice
Kenneth Walker III (foot) was back in pads at Tuesday's training camp practice, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. Foot soreness sidelined Walker for three straight training camp practices, but now he's back on the field. It seems like Walker is constantly battling lower-body injuries, and the 24-year-old's 2024 season was cut short by an ankle injury. Because of his injury history and talk that Zach Charbonnet could take on a bigger role in the backfield next to Walker to help keep him healthy in new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's system, Walker has become more of a midrange RB2 target in fantasy. Walker hasn't reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark since his rookie season in 2022 and he played in only 11 games last year, rushing for 573 yards and seven touchdowns. If he's healthy, Walker should still lead Seattle's backfield in 2025.Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta
Seattle Seahawks running back Luke Keaschall Activated and Starting for Twins on Tuesday
Luke Keaschall (forearm) was activated from the 60-day injured and will start at second base and bat fifth on Tuesday against the division-rival Detroit Tigers and right-hander Chris Paddack at Comerica Park. Keaschall will join the big-league squad after being out since late April with a forearm fracture. The 22-year-old right-handed hitter only played in seven games at the big-league level with the Twins earlier this year before his injury, going 7-for-19 with two RBI, four runs scored and five stolen bases. The former second-rounder out of Arizona State has the ability to hit for average and power while getting on base frequently and stealing bases, and he should get plenty of run the rest of the 2025 season with the Twins looking to rebuild.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins second base prospect Spencer Rattler Pulling Away as Saints Starter?
Spencer Rattler was the QB1 at Tuesday's practice. That's notable, marking the first time one of he, or fellow signal-callers Tyler Shough or Jake Haener, has done so in back-to-back days. New Orleans is looking for an answer at quarterback in 2025, and right now, Rattler has the best chance to man the helm. For the South Carolina alum to be the solution long-term, he'll have to improve on the 57% completion rate and 4:5 TD:INT ratio he posted across seven appearances in his rookie season (188 yards per game). Even if Rattler begins the campaign in possession of the starting gig, a few poor performances could cause that to change. He remains a non-target in drafts.Source: Nick Underhill
Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports that New Orleans Saints quarterback Jordan Addison Tagged with Three-Game Suspension
Jordan Addison will be suspended for the first three games of the 2025 season. The thought was that the 23-year-old would eventually be hit with a short suspension stemming from a DUI incident in 2024, and the punishment was finally dealt after Addison pleaded guilty to a lesser charge a few weeks back. Schefter notes that he'll still be permitted to participate in training camp and preseason games without restriction, but this undoubtedly damages the third-year pro's fantasy value as he'll miss a decent bit of the season. Addison has performed well in the WR2 role for Minnesota despite a slight statistical step back in 2024. However, the extra variable of quarterback J.J. McCarthy and his lack of NFL experience make the USC product one of the riskier top 75 picks. Expect that ADP to drop over the next few weeks.Source: Adam Schefter
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jacob Misiorowski to Throw a Bullpen on Tuesday
Jacob Misiorowski (leg) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday with a planned mid-August return, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Misiorowski was placed on the 15-day injured list over the weekend with a left-tibia contusion. It's not a serious injury for the 23-year-old, but it allows the Brewers to play it safe with one of the most dominant arms in the game and keep him fresh for the stretch run. The former second-round pick in 2022 has already looked the part in his first seven big-league games, going 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA (3.11 FIP) and 0.96 WHIP, 47 strikeouts and 14 walks in 33 1/3 frames. Misiorowski has high-end fantasy potential for years to come and should already be rostered in all leagues, even with him on the IL.Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Todd Rosiak
Milwaukee Brewers rookie right-hander Anton Khudobin Announces Retirement
Source: NHL.com
Goaltender Anton Khudobin announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday. He will wrap up his career after turning 39 in May. Khudobin's final NHL appearance came during the 2022-23 season with the Chicago Blackhawks. After his contract ended, Khudobin played in Russia. Overall, Khudobin made 260 regular-season appearances in the NHL, amassing a 114-92-33 record. He collected 11 shutouts and registered a 2.52 goals-against average with a .916 save percentage. The Kazakh-born netminder featured for six NHL teams during a 14-year career, helping the Dallas Stars reach the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals.Anthony Richardson Slated to Start Thursday, Daniel Jones to Follow in Preseason
Anthony Richardson Sr. will get the start for their road matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. Steichen also notes that fellow signal-caller Daniel Jones will get the nod for their Week 2 tilt with the visiting Green Bay Packers. Jones and Richardson Sr. are entrenched in a training camp battle for Indianapolis' starting QB gig, and it doesn't appear that either has made a strong case to supplant the other. Richardson Sr. is the more exciting option and would give the Colts' offense a higher ceiling. However, he'll have to get past his deficiencies as a passer. Jones hasn't been the most heralded passing option either, but holds a significantly better career completion percentage (64.1%) than his counterpart (50.6%).Source: Stephen Holder
Head coach Shane Steichen reports that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Miro Heiskanen Back at 100 Percent Ahead of New Season
Source: NHL.com
Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen has confirmed he is fully healthy for the start of the season. "I'm 100 percent back to normal after the surgery," Heiskanen said Monday. "I've been able to practice all summer as usual." Heiskanen underwent knee surgery on Feb. 4 and missed the end of the 2024-25 regular season. He returned to action during the second round of the playoffs but wasn't at his best. A fully healthy Heiskanen should be a key player for both the Stars and fantasy teams next season. He finished last term with 25 points (five goals, 20 assists), 108 shots, 85 blocks, and a plus-seven rating across 50 outings.Jackson Chourio has Estimated Timeline of 2-4 Weeks
Jackson Chourio's right-hamstring strain is improving with treatment, and he has an estimated timeline to return in two to four weeks, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak. It sounds like Chourio has responded well to a platelet-rich plasma injection that he received after going on the 10-day injured list a week ago. Initially, it was believed the 21-year-old wouldn't miss much time, but the Brewers thought twice about it and decided to rest one of their best players for the stretch run. Overall, it's good news for Chourio's fantasy managers, as he could be back before the end of August if he continues to recover at a good pace. In the meantime, both Isaac Collins and Blake Perkins will see more playing time in Milwaukee's outfield. Collins, in particular, has been hot of late.Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Todd Rosiak
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Cole Kmet Exits Practice Early
Cole Kmet (undisclosed) exited Tuesday's practice early with an injury, according to multiple beat reporters on-site. Per CHGO's Mark Carman, Kmet was "visibly upset" leaving the field with a trainer. There's been no word on the body part that's ailing him. The sixth-year pro figures to start the season as the team's TE1, but that isn't a foregone conclusion, particularly with rookie teammate Colston Loveland impressing early on in camp. Ben Johnson is likely to feature both tight ends on the field in 2025, although any time missed by Kmet could cause Loveland to supersede him in the pecking order. Fantasy managers should keep a watchful eye on the situation, as the Bears' offense could be a nice source of points if Caleb Williams can improve on his rookie campaign.Source: Mark Carman
Chicago Bears tight end Matthew Tkachuk Expected to Miss Start of Season
Source: Elliotte Friedman
Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk is expected to miss the start of the new NHL season. "I think we're going to find out at some point here that Tkachuk will miss the start of the season," NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said on the latest episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast. "I think he'll be back in time for the Olympics... But I think he's going to miss the start of the year and a chunk of time after that." Tkachuk dealt with various health issues last term and apparently isn't at 100 percent for the start of 2025-26 either. Based on the available information, it's safe to assume Florida will be without Tkachuk for several months, which would boost Brad Marchand's fantasy stock.Sal Frelick Available Off the Bench on Tuesday
Sal Frelick (knee) remains out of the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's contest in Atlanta against the Braves, but he has responded well to treatment and is available off the bench at Truist Park, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Frelick is dealing with soreness in his left knee and will be missing his third straight start, although it sounds like he won't have to go on the injured list and could return as soon as Wednesday in Atlanta. The Brewers do have an off day coming on Thursday, though, so Milwaukee could play it safe and hold Frelick out until Friday. The 25-year-old former first-rounder is having a breakout year for the first-place Brewers, slashing .296/.353/.412 with a .765 OPS, eight home runs, 41 RBI, 49 runs and 17 stolen bases in 98 games. Frelick is mainly attractive in fantasy for his speed.Source: MLB.com - Adam McCalvy
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Luis Urias Out With Back Injury on Tuesday
Luis Urias (back) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game in Washington against the Nationals after he had to leave Sunday's series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks early with lower-back spasms. It's not a great sign that Urias isn't in there after the team had a day off on Monday, but he'll be considered day-to-day for now. Max Schuemann is starting at the keystone and is batting ninth for the A's against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Gio Urshela is at third and is in the eight-hole. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups will probably want to avoid both Schuemann and Urshela everywhere. Urshela is hitting .167 in his six career at-bats against Gore, while Schuemann has gone hitless against the tough lefty in just two at-bats.Source: MLB.com
Athletics infielder Yoniel Curet Headed to Triple-A Durham
Yoniel Curet has been promoted to Triple-A Durham. The Rays' 15th-ranked prospect missed most of the season with a shoulder injury, but has pitched well since his return from the IL on July 3, recording a 1.12 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 19.2 percent K-BB% in 18 2/3 innings pitched (five starts). He was coming off a 2024 season in which he posted similar results in 119 IP between High-A and Double-A, with his 159 strikeouts good for the 10th-most in all the minors last year. With his strikeout stuff and the fact he's on the 40-man roster, it's possible he joins the Rays late in the season if they're in position to make a run at the Wild Card, perhaps as a reliever rather than a starter, and if not, expect him to be in the big leagues at some point next year.Source: MiLB Central
Tampa Bay Rays pitching prospect
