Gabriel Moreno Begins Tee Work, Nearing Return to Diamondbacks
Gabriel Moreno (hand) has resumed swinging a bat and has started tee work after an August 4 CT scan confirmed his right hand had fully healed. Moreno landed on the injured list on June 19 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 18 after suffering a hairline fracture in his right hand from a foul tip on June 6. He is expected to make a return in mid-August. The 25-year-old was slashing a productive .270/.324/.414 with a .738 OPS over 53 games prior to the injury. His return would provide a much-needed boost to a Diamondbacks team losing postseason hopes in the NL West.
