Jacob Wilson Playing Catch and Running
Jacob Wilson (forearm) is playing catch and running but hasn't yet been cleared to start a hitting progression, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. Wilson is making slow progress after being diagnosed with a fractured left forearm two weeks ago. At this time, there is no timetable for his return, so fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if we don't see the 23-year-old until later this month or even in September. In the meantime, Darell Hernaiz has become useful in AL-only leagues with elevated playing time as the primary shortstop. Although Wilson is a candidate for regression at the plate once he returns from injury, the former sixth overall pick has had a very successful first season in the majors with a .312 average (115-for-169) with 10 homers, 45 RBI, 46 runs and five stolen bases. Keep him stashed in an IL spot in fantasy leagues.
