John Peck Promoted to Double-A Erie
Source: West Michigan Whitecaps
Detroit Tigers infield prospect John Peck has been promoted to Double-A Erie after a strong showing at High-A throughout 2025. The Tigers' 17th-ranked prospect slashed .307/.364/.452 with 10 home runs and 17 steals, while his 115 hits and 78 runs led the entire Midwest League. The 23-year-old former seventh-round draft pick strikes out a bit more than average, with a career K% in the minors of 24.6 percent, but has been able to hit well despite that, recording a career .290 batting average. It will be interesting to see if he can continue that trend as he moves up the ranks, and if so, he should be able to debut in the majors by 2027.Luis Severino Making Progress in Recovery
Luis Severino (oblique) after he was evaluated in West Sacramento, according to manager Mark Kotsay. The team will provide more information later, but Kotsay revealed that the A's received better news than they expected. Severino has been on the 15-day injured list since Aug. 6 with a strained left oblique. While oblique injuries often lead to long absences, it now looks as if Severino will have a chance to pitch again before the A's season ends. Severino has had a rough first year with the A's, having gone 6-11 with a 4.82 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 103:44 K:BB in 136 1/3 innings.Source: Jessica Kleinschmidt
The Athletics received a positive update on injured right-hander Austin Wynns Transferred to 60-Day Injured List
Austin Wynns (abdomen) to the 60-day injured list, ending his season. Wynns went on the 10-day IL with an abdominal strain on Aug. 4, so the move to the 60-day IL makes him ineligible to return in 2025. The 34-year-old journeyman appeared in 40 games this season between the Reds and Athletics and hit a robust .291/.321/.544 with six homers, 21 RBI, and 13 runs scored over 110 plate appearances. Most of Wynns' production came with the Reds, who traded him to the Athletics for cash considerations on June 8. With Wynns now out of the mix for the A's, Willie MacIver has taken over as Shea Langeliers' backup.Source: MLB.com
The Athletics have transferred catcher Matt Wallner Reinstated From Paternity List
Matt Wallner (personal) from the paternity list and optioned catcher Jhonny Pereda to Triple-A St. Paul. Wallner will return after missing three games to provide some punch to the Twins' lineup. The 27-year-old has smacked a career-high 16 homers while hitting .218/.325/.496 with 27 RBI and 34 runs scored in 274 trips to the plate. Wallner's .278 ISO ranks ninth in the majors among hitters who have amassed at least 250 plate appearances. The lefty has done most of his against righties, though, and he'll face a tough test on Tuesday against New York Yankees southpaw Carlos Rodon.Source: Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins have activated outfielder Chris Martin Scheduled to Face Hitters Tuesday
Chris Martin (calf) threw a bullpen session on Aug. 10 and is scheduled to face hitters in batting practice on Tuesday. The 39-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched in the majors since he suffered a left-calf strain in a 2-1 defeat to the Detroit Tigers on July 20. Martin took the loss in that game, but he was one of the Rangers' most reliable relievers before he landed on the shelf. Across 34 1/3 innings, Martin has recorded a 2.36 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP, 36:6 K:BB, 12 holds, and two saves. The playoff-contending Rangers are hoping that he'll rejoin their bullpen later this month.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers reliever Landen Roupp to Throw Bullpen Session Wednesday
Landen Roupp (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. After that, the Giants will decide what's next for Roupp, who has been on the 15-day injured list since July 23 with elbow inflammation. Roupp made his first Triple-A rehab start this past Sunday and gave up two runs on three hits with four strikeouts against no walks over a three-inning, 50-pitch span. The 26-year-old has been a bright spot for the Giants this season, having gone 7-6 with a 3.11 ERA and 95:42 K:BB across 20 starts and 101 1/3 innings.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants right-hander Aaron Judge Could Return to Outfield on Upcoming Road Trip
Aaron Judge (elbow) will "hopefully" return to playing defense during the team's upcoming road trip, manager Aaron Boone told Talkin' Yanks. Judge missed the end of July and the beginning of August after suffering a flexor strain, and he has been limited to DH duties since coming off the 10-day injured list a week ago. That could change when the Yankees embark on a five-game road trip later this week. They'll be in St. Louis from Friday through Sunday before starting a two-game set at Tampa Bay on Aug. 19. Judge has been stuck on 37 home runs since his return and has picked up a paltry four hits in 19 at-bats with no extra-base knocks, two RBI, six strikeouts, and four walks in six games.Source: Talkin' Yanks
New York Yankees outfielder Keibert Ruiz Continuing to Participate in Baseball Activities
Keibert Ruiz (concussion) is going through rehab protocol and continuing to participate in baseball activities as he works back from a concussion. The 27-year-old has already missed over a month after going on the seven-day concussion IL on July 6. Before that, Ruiz hit an underwhelming .247/.277/.318 with two homers, 25 RBI, and 19 runs scored in 267 trips to the plate. He has experienced a noticeable drop in power this year after combining for 31 homers in the previous two seasons. Riley Adams, Ruiz's replacement, hasn't fared much better. Although Adams has belted seven HRs, he owns an unsightly .190/.247/.361 line and a sky-high 40% strikeout rate in 170 plate appearances.Source: MLB.com
Washington Nationals catcher Josiah Gray Throwing Bullpens, Not Facing Hitters Yet
Josiah Gray (elbow, forearm) is continuing to throw bullpen sessions at the team's facility in Florida, but he's not ready to face live hitters yet, per Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com. The Nationals are taking a cautious approach with Gray, who's a little over a year removed from undergoing Tommy John surgery and internal-brace procedure in July 2024. Time is running out on a potential Gray return this year, as he'll still need to embark on a rehab assignment after several sessions against live hitters. In 2023, his most recent healthy season, the 27-year-old threw a career-high 159 innings and logged a 3.91 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP and 143 strikeouts against 80 walks.Source: Mark Zuckerman - MASNsports.com
Washington Nationals right-hander Dylan Crews Staying on Rehab Assignment
Dylan Crews (oblique) will stay on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester through at least Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Crews, who has been on the injured list with a strained left oblique since May 21, has already played 11 games with Rochester. He just returned to playing nine innings in the outfield, though, and the Nationals want the 23-year-old to continue working on his timing at the plate. Crews has gone a productive 10-for-36 with two home rune, seven RBI, six strikeouts, and one walk with Rochester. With the Nationals, the former second overall pick slumped to a .196/.266/.354 line with seven homers, 15 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases in 173 plate appearances before going on the IL.Source: Mark Zuckerman - MASNsports.com
Washington Nationals outfielder Geraldo Perdomo Records 12th Home Run
Geraldo Perdomo went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in his team's 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers on Monday. Perdomo entered the 2025 season with 14 total home runs in over 1,400 career big-league plate appearances, so the 12 he has hit this year represents a significant power surge. In 522 plate appearances in 2025, Perdomo is hitting .286/.385/.436 with 12 home runs, 78 RBI, 66 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases. He's recorded more walks (70) than strikeouts (56) while posting the best barrel and hard-hit rates of his career. Perdomo's xSLG (.416) is middling, so he could see some power regression the rest of the way or in years to come. Nevertheless, he's broken out as a very solid fantasy contributor in 2025.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Corbin Carroll Homers, Drives in Two
Corbin Carroll homered and recorded two RBI in his team's 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers on Monday. The home run was Carroll's 26th of the season, which already represents a career-high. In addition to the 26 homers, Carroll is slashing .251/.325/.561 with 62 RBI, 78 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases in 459 plate appearances so far in 2025. The 24-year-old has altered his approach at the plate in search of more power. His strikeout rate has jumped from 19% in 2024 to 24.6% in 2025, but his barrel rate has more than doubled (7.2% to 15.7%), and his hard-hit rate is up nearly 10% (40.6% to 50.3%). Carroll has a legitimate shot at a 35 HR/25 SB season while being a standout contributor in both runs and RBI.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Wyatt Langford Homers, Drives in Three
Wyatt Langford hit a home run and recorded three RBI in his team's 7-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. It's the 23-year-old's first home run since July 11, so both fantasy managers and the Rangers will hope this is the sign of a power surge to come. In 424 plate appearances so far this season, Langford is hitting .238/.321/.412 with 16 home runs, 48 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases. His barrel rate has increased from 9.3% in 2024 to 13.4% in 2025, but his strikeout rate has also jumped from 20.6% to 27.1%. He remains a solid contributor in fantasy, but an underwhelming one given his draft-day cost and prospect pedigree.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers outfielder Zach Neto Homers Twice on Monday
Zach Neto powered his team to a 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night with a monster game. Neto was three-for-three with two home runs, two walks, and an additional run scored. In 435 plate appearances so far this season, the 24-year-old is slashing .272/.329/.481 with 19 home runs, 48 RBI, 72 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases. Neto's 13.2% barrel rate and 47.6% hard-hit rate are both career-bests by a significant margin. He profiles as a power/speed stud in fantasy who should be a staple at the top of the Angels order for years to come.Source: MLB.com
Los Angeles Angels shortstop John Means Throws Two Innings in Bridge Game
John Means (elbow) threw two innings in a bridge game at the team's Arizona complex, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. Stebbins writes that the next step for Means in his recovery from Tommy John Surgery could be a rehab assignment with one of Cleveland's minor league affiliates. The 32-year-old lefty has thrown just 52 1/3 innings since the start of 2022 due to two separate Tommy John surgeries. In 401 career big-league innings (73 starts), Means is 23-26 with a 3.68 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 334 strikeouts. It appears there's a chance he could make his return very late in the 2025 season, but he's more likely to be fantasy-relevant in 2026.Source: MLB.com - Tim Stebbins
