Chris Martin Scheduled to Face Hitters Tuesday
Chris Martin (calf) threw a bullpen session on Aug. 10 and is scheduled to face hitters in batting practice on Tuesday. The 39-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched in the majors since he suffered a left-calf strain in a 2-1 defeat to the Detroit Tigers on July 20. Martin took the loss in that game, but he was one of the Rangers' most reliable relievers before he landed on the shelf. Across 34 1/3 innings, Martin has recorded a 2.36 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP, 36:6 K:BB, 12 holds, and two saves. The playoff-contending Rangers are hoping that he'll rejoin their bullpen later this month.
