Mets, Michael Conforto Open To Extension Talks
6 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto and general manager Brodie Van Wagenen both said they were open to discussing a long-term contract extension on Friday, although there haven't been talks between the two sides. "I would love to explore it," Conforto said. "I’m all ears to anything. I really enjoy playing here, so I’m all ears." The 26-year-old won't be a free agent until after the 2021 season, so there isn't any rush. Conforto got off to a slow start last year after returning from shoulder surgery and he finished by hitting .243 with 28 home runs and a .797 OPS. His .895 OPS in the second half shows that he could be much better over a full healthy season in 2019.
