Logan Evans A Candidate To Join Major-League Bullpen
6 months agoSeattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said on Tuesday that the team is legitimately considering right-handed pitching prospect Logan Evans for their big-league bullpen as soon as the second half of the season. Evans was drafted just last year in the 12th round out of Pittsburgh and is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the team's No. 19 prospect. The 22-year-old has been locked in at Double-A Arkansas this year with a 5-2 record, 1.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 47 strikeouts and 15 walks in 51 1/3 innings over 10 starts. In his first relief appearance at Double-A on Tuesday, Evans allowed an unearned run while walking one, hitting a batter and striking out one in two innings of work. He probably won't be much of a fantasy option in redraft leagues if he's in a relief role for his MLB debut, but Evans is an interesting arm to monitor and potentially stash in dynasty/keeper leagues who gets great extension on his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame.
