2 years agoWashington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz is getting a day off on Thursday against the San Diego Padres. Ruiz will get a breather in a matinee game after a night game. In his absence, Riley Adams will do the catching and hit eighth in the lineup against Padres left-hander Blake Snell. Ruiz could probably use a little break, too, as he's gone just 11-for-68 (.162) with two home runs and nine RBI in 18 games so far in the month of May. Overall, the 24-year-old backstop is hitting a weak .229 (36-for-157) with seven doubles, four home runs, 17 RBI and 12 runs scored in 41 games, but he has walked 11 times and struck out only 14 times.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
