Jonathan Lucroy Had Surgery On Neck
5 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Jonathan Lucroy (neck) said he had surgery for a herniated disc in his neck that had been bothering him for the last three years. "I'd like to sit here and make excuses and say it's the reason I haven't been good, but I'm not going to. It did affect me," Lucroy said. The 33-year-old was an All-Star in 2016 with the Rangers and Brewers, but he's fallen off since then offensively. He remains a strong defensive backstop, but he'll have to battle with Kevin Plawecki this spring to be Christian Vazquez's backup in Beantown. At best, Lucroy will be catching depth in AL-only leagues if he wins the backup gig out of camp.
