St. Louis Cardinals shortstop prospect J.J. Wetherholt went 2-for-4 on Wednesday for Double-A Springfield. This follows a three-hit game on Tuesday, which included a triple and two runs scored. The left-handed slugger came into the week hitting .208 (5-for-24) over his previous eight contests, but he still registered a .457 OBP thanks to 11 walks that he tallied during that stretch. The Cardinals' top-ranked prospect is performing well in his first run through Double-A, slashing .293/.406/.436 with three home runs, seven steals, and a 25:22 BB:K. The 2024 seventh-overall draft pick should be in the mix for a promotion to Triple-A in the coming weeks and could still make a late-season cameo in the majors.
