4 years agoThe New York Giants claimed former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Ryquell Armstead off waivers on Tuesday, according to a source. The Jaguars waived Armstead on Monday, and he didn't go long without a team. The 24-year-old missed all of last year with an injury while also going on the league's COVID-19 list two separate times. The first-round selection of Clemson running back Travis Etienne sealed Armstead's fate with Jacksonville. Armstead will join a Giants backfield that will be getting Saquon Barkley back from injury in 2021. He'll be competing with the likes of Devontae Booker, Elijhaa Penny and Corey Clement, among others, for a spot on the final roster this summer. After being a fifth-round pick in 2019, Armstead had 35 carries for 108 yards while also catching 14 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games (one start) in his rookie season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
