Edwin Diaz Picks Up 14th Save On Wednesday
Edwin Diaz picked up a one-out save on Wednesday preserving the Mets 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Diaz needed just four pitches to convert his 14th save of the season after reliever Drew Smith made things interesting in the top of the ninth inning which began with the Mets holding a 6-1 lead. Diaz's excellent 2021 campaign continues with his now having converted 14 of 15 save opportunities. He also owns a 2.67 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and a 37:7 K:BB over 27 IP on the season. His numbers are firmly backed by elite metrics including a minuscule 23.7% overall hard-hit rate, a 35.2% strikeout rate, and a fastball velocity of 99.1 mph (top-1% of MLB). As one of the elite relievers in baseball, Diaz should, obviously, be active in all fantasy formats.
