DeMarcus Lawrence Receives Franchise Tag, Not Close To Deal
6 years agoDallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who received the franchise tag on Monday, is unlikely to step foot on the field anytime soon for the Cowboys. The deadline for the two sides to agree on a long-term deal is July 15, but the two sides aren't close at all to a deal. Dallas made an offer to Lawrence's agent, David Canter, during the NFL scouting combine that Lawrence's camp didn't consider serious. Lawrence would be set to make more than $20 million on the franchise tag this year. The Cowboys believe they can strike a long-term deal with one of the better pass rushers in the league before the deadline in July.
