Defensive Tackle A Draft Priority For Jets
2 years agoThe New York Jets are really hurting at the defensive tackle position heading into the 2023 draft after losing Sheldon Rankins and Nathan Shepherd in free agency and making unsuccessful bids for Fletcher Cox and Calais Campbell. The position is a draft priority, but perhaps not with the 13th overall pick, unless Georgia's Jalen Carter falls to them. Only five of Quinnen Williams' 12 sacks in 2022 came with Rankins or Shepherd on the field, so their losses are unlikely to affect Williams much moving forward. Williams was at his best last year when he was joined by Carl Lawson and John Franklin-Myers on the D line. The top remaining defensive tackles in free agency include Matt Ioannidis, Poona Ford, Shelby Harris and A'Shawn Robinson.
