Winnipeg Jets left wing Kyle Connor put three pucks into the net during Thursday's season-opening 5-4 loss to the Dallas Stars. A day after agreeing to a big eight-year, $96 million extension with the team, Connor registered his seventh career hat trick. He became the first player in franchise history to score as many as three goals in a season-opening game. Connor will be disappointed that his heroics didn't lead to a win, but this should give him a huge amount of confidence going forward. The Jets return to battle on Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings. After scoring a combined seven points on Thursday night, the top line with Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Gabriel Vilardi has a lot to live up to in the contest.--Taavi Pailk
