Colorado Avalanche goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) practiced on Friday, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports. This is a sign that Blackwood is nearing his return, although Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said the team isn't sure whether Blackwood will travel during an upcoming two-game road trip. Blackwood is set to miss a third straight game on Saturday when Colorado faces the Dallas Stars. While his absence is a blow for the team, Scott Wedgewood has been in impressive form at the start of the campaign. The 33-year-old has gone 2-0-0 so far, allowing just one goal in each outing and producing a .966 save percentage.--Taavi Pailk
