Brewers Decline Ryan Braun's Option
4 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers declined to pick up veteran outfielder Ryan Braun's $15 million mutual option for the 2021 season on Friday, making him a free agent. The team's career home run leader will now ponder his future and is due a $4 million buyout. the 37-year-old has spent his entire career in Milwaukee and pondered out loud earlier this year that the 2020 season might've been his last in baseball. Braun leads the franchise with 352 career home runs, but he hit a career-low .233 with seven home runs and 27 RBI in 39 games this year while fighting through back issues. His back problem prevented him from playing in the final wild-card loss to the Dodgers. Braun ranks second in Brewers history in RBI (1,154), extra-base hits (809), total bases (3,525) and doubles (408). He ranks third in runs (1,080), hits (1,963), triples (49), steals (216) and walks (586).
