Brennan Scarlett Signs With Dolphins
4 years agoFormer Houston Texans outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett signed an undisclosed deal with the Miami Dolphins, according to a league source. The Dolphins also signed linebacker Duke Riley. Scarlett will compete for a rotational role with the team in 2021. His best season came in 2019, when he had 51 total tackles, 3.5 sacks and three tackles for loss in 10 starts for the Texans. Vince Biegel is returning from a torn Achilles, but the Dolphins also have Andrew Van Ginkel at the position. Scarlett lacks high-level athleticism to offer much of a ceiling in his new home, but his physical style of play should give him a chance to stick on the active roster. Riley, 26, had 55 combined tackles (30 solo), one interception and half a sack in 13 games (eight starts) for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020.
