Brandon Lowe Out Again With Back Issue
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that second baseman Brandon Lowe (back) is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day on Friday against the New York Yankees with a slight back issue. It's a different injury than what sidelined him last year, and he plans to go through a full workout on Friday and should be available off the bench. It sounds like the 28-year-old's injury isn't very serious, so consider him day-to-day for now. Hopefully, he'll be able to return on Saturday. Lowe does have seven home runs and 20 RBI in 27 games so far this year, but he's also hitting only .223 (21-for-94) with 33 strikeouts. Taylor Walls will man the keystone and hit seventh against Yankees right-hander Jhony Brito on Friday.
