The Chicago Blackhawks have placed defenseman Jarred Tinordi on injured reserve due to a groin strain. The blueliner logged just 11:56 in a loss to the Wild on Feb. 7 and sat out an overtime loss versus the Rangers two nights later. The 31-year-old has six assists in 30 games this season along with a minus-19 rating. He brings plenty of physicality to the table, however, with 100 hits, 62 blocks, and 40 penalty minutes as part of his 15:44 average ice time per game. A former first-round pick, Tinordi has played sparingly in parts of nine NHL seasons, skating in 183 regular-season games with four goals and 27 points along with 210 penalty minutes in that time.--Brenton Kemp
