Alex Smith Sitting Out Again Thursday
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (calf) will sit out of practice for the second straight day on Thursday as he deals with a calf strain that he suffered in the Week 14 win over the 49ers. Washington's plan all along was to take things slowly with Smith, as the priority is rest over practice repetitions. The good news is the injury isn't related to the gruesome broken leg he suffered in 2018. Dwayne Haskins would be in line to start against the Seahawks if Smith cannot play, but he'll be a downgrade to the team's offense as a whole. Despite not being more than a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes in the last five games, Smith has turned Washington into a top-10 NFL offense. Seattle's defense has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to QBs this year, but they've stiffened in that regard in recent weeks.
