ANALYSIS: Just one month ago, San Diego Padres pitcher Matt Waldron would not have been considered a waiver wire pickup in most leagues. Waldron has turned a corner on the mound while being one of the most efficient pitchers over the past month.
Before his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, the right-hander had a 1.84 ERA and 35 strikeouts in his last five outings. In all five of those starts, Waldron gave up two runs or less. His best start during that span came back on May 28, when the 27-year-old threw seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts against the Miami Marlins.

With the way Waldron is pitching, he deserves to be rostered in all 12-plus team leagues moving forward. His knuckleball has caused opposing hitters plenty of problems, and he currently owns a 3.98 ERA across 12 starts this season. Look to see if the right-hander is available on waivers because he has a great matchup against the New York Mets in Week 12 (June 10 to June 16).
