Favorite Plays
Tommy Fleetwood ($8,900)
How do you get yourself to be underplayed for DFS contests? You fail to win golf tournaments + burn the industry when you turn into a more popular choice during a major championship event.
Look, I understand that Fleetwood continues to be a disappointing golfer who has left upside on the table in the past. However, the sentiment I expressed last week remains true here: "The Englishman is a potential core option without being the first man into your build."
My model ranked Fleetwood in the top 30 of all seven categories I ran this week, including landing fifth for Weighted: Strokes Gained Total. We have always viewed Fleetwood as a golfer who should dominate at these shorter tests, such as TPC River Highlands, Sedgefield, and Harbour Town, and that may come more to fruition this week than the letdown he exhibited at the U.S. Open. I am willing to pay $8,900 to find out.
Daniel Berger ($7,500)
Consider this week my greatest hits of the broken record names I have discussed for the last few months.
I continued to get burned by Daniel Berger recently. I realize that data can only tell so much when it is accompanied by four straight finishes outside the top 30. Still, I will trust the math here since the price tags consistently have become more intriguing, especially for a golfer steadily climbing up my model (despite those inferior results).
Berger's profile landed as one of the top upside climbers in my sheet for win equity. He also placed as one of my steadier profilers after ranking in the top 40 in all seven categories that I weighed this week. If those factors coincide with his tournament-leading projection for Expected Production increase at TPC River Highlands versus his recent output, perhaps Berger can shock gamers by winning this event as a mere $7,500 price tag option.
Andrew Novak ($6,700), Davis Thompson ($6,400)
My model's optimal route is pushing heavily in the direction of Scottie Scheffler + Daniel Berger + some of these $6,000 selections.
A handful of names make sense to pair alongside Scheffler and likely will find more or less value once we get current ownership projections entered into the mix, but the two that my model liked most based on their profiles are Andrew Novak and Davis Thompson.
Those two were the best values when comparing their price tag and overall rank in my sheet. I typically look at those differences more than anything else when trying to find a $6,000 value for DFS contests, and there is a strong case to be made that either of the options should have been around $1,000 more expensive. I am going to use both this week and treat them as if they were fringe top 25 golfers in this field.
That doesn't mean both need to always be played together, but they are nice salary-saving options to open room back up when using Scheffler.
