Pitchers to Use
Oh, you thought I was going to recommend pitchers to use from the waiver wire? Ha! Not today!
Actually, there is one guy, and he's pitching at Coors Field. Tyler Anderson appears to have rediscovered the combination of ground balls and soft contact that made him sneaky useful last season. This time around, he's even striking out a batter per inning. The Mariners don't have too many scary right-handed hitters. There's still plenty of room to worry about your ratios. After all, it's friggin' Coors Field. However, if you have to use somebody, Anderson is your one and only guy.
You could maybe make a case for using Matt Andriese versus the Rangers. I'm not going to make that case, but you might have that ability.

Pitchers to Exploit
I have lots of things to say about the Tuesday baddies. However, this is basically the least important section of this column, so I'll restrain myself to a few simple notes.
Mike Fiers was bumped from the Astros rotation for a good 30 seconds before Charlie Morton required a visit to the DL.
Speaking of "D.L.," Dinelson Lamet overpowered the Mets. He averaged 95 mph on the gun while recording seven of his eight strikeouts with either a slider or changeup. He's not quite as over-the-top as the scouting reports implied. Lamet's biggest issue is poor command. It's going to get him in trouble more often than not. I do like the movement on his pitches and foresee a useful career - possibly in the bullpen. In the short term, teams will catch up with him soon. I'd not bet against the Cubs tomorrow - even with crappy Eddie Butler on the bump.
I like the life on Miguel Almonte's fastball, but it does seem as if hitters get a good look at it. I wonder if he'd be better suited to relief. He throws a 96 mph rising, running heater. It would be cool if he complemented it with a screw ball. Or at least a splitter. Alas, his offspeed stuff interacts poorly.

Homers on the Wire
Look. If you need a home run, quit dicking around and pick up Colby Rasmus. All he hits are home runs (literally, the rest are strikeouts), and he's available in just about every league. He's opposed by Martinez at a homer friendly park. All he has to do is make contact. Logan Morrison is a higher floor, lower ceiling alternative with the same matchup.
Tommy Joseph doesn't have confirmed platoon splits, but he is facing a crappy southpaw sinkerballer. As I so frequently write, Joseph likes low fastballs.
Danny Valencia does have confirmed platoon splits. He'll see a solid lefty at Coors Field. Why not, eh?
Justin Smoak is stalled at 48 percent owned. In one league, I can't pick up a catcher or Joseph because Smoak is my worst player. Cool story, huh?

Steals on the Wire
I haven't mentioned Delino DeShields recently. He runs when he reaches base - eight steals in 134 plate appearances. That's a pace of 39 swipes in a full season. Unfortunately, his 26.9 percent strikeout rate is a serious hindrance to his value.

Skill Positions
Tony Wolters is facing a lefty with a bad fastball at Coors Field. That sounds like a good thing to me. Alternatively, the usual suspects like Austin Hedges (Butler), Cameron Rupp (Nicolino), and Jett Bandy (TBD) are still floating around.
