Recent Update

4/7:A year after posting a career-high 20 home runs and 67 RBI, Freddy Galvis is off to a solid start in 2017. The Venezuelan shortstop recorded an RBI double and a two-run home run as the Phillies fell just short against the Nationals this afternoon, 7-6. Galvis is now hitting .286 through four games, with two home runs and four RBI. As a hitter in the bottom of the lineup, the 27-year-old could be a huge boost to this lineup should he be able to produce right before the top of the order comes around to bat.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller

Beat Writer Chatter

  • @ryanlawrence21: No one was running to third base. Except Galvis, when he saw a ball being fired there for some reason.
  • @ryanlawrence21: @Snibbs10 it's just a part of who he is as a player. he was prone to bad base running, just like Galvis is not prone to such.
  • @ryanlawrence21: @mlbstar17 @MikeLacy_215 they won't for "hustle," yet Galvis gets thrown in there, oddly, when he plays the game th…
  • @ryanlawrence21: @irockphilly @MallonDan Galvis? I think it's properly rated. Everyone knows (at least in the NL) that he's a badass with the glove.
  • @ryanlawrence21: @MikeLacy_215 Tommy Joseph is young. Cameron Rupp is probably same age as Galvis.
  • @ryanlawrence21: Galvis doesn't need to improve mental game. I sense a trend in the players people are naming. Huh.
  • @ryanlawrence21: Galvis is bad at running the bases?? Because of one play, and only one play, people keep talking about? Nah.

  • @ryanlawrence21: Galvis prides himself on running balls out and accepted the blame for nearly costing the Phillies a win Tuesday:
  • @ToddZolecki: @PhllyPhan @FelskeFiles No. Players are allowed to make a mistake. Galvis is not a serial offender. One of the team's smartest players.
  • @ToddZolecki: A look at the Freddy Galvis pop up turned error. Only got to first, while Cameron Rupp got from first to third.
  • @ryanlawrence21: @guywebster @carlosjduarte I think you have him confused with someone else. Galvis isn't a big bat flipper
  • @ryanlawrence21: This is the play Freddy Galvis failed to run out. He ended up on first, and not second, and then third, and not hom…
  • @ToddZolecki: So the ground rule double leaves the game tied. Galvis never got to second on crazy pop up error by Jose Reyes. Costly.
  • @MattGelb: Freddy Galvis not running out that pop up just kills the Phillies. They would be winning right now.
  • @ryanlawrence21: ... Mets are asking umpires to look at the video. If it's a ground rule double, Galvis must be on third base and it's a tie game.
  • @ryanlawrence21: @theChrisTremo he also plays superb defense at one of the most important defensive positions on the field. (which i…
