Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Denzel Boston, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Denzel Boston is coming off a Week 1 performance in which he snagged a touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Boston caught two passes for 59 yards and a touchdown on his four targets. Boston looks like the main receiving target for Watson but is not worth starting in Week 2 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers held the explosive passing attack of the Cincinnati Bengals in check in their Week 1 matchup. The lead cornerbacks for the Bucs are Zyon McCollum and Benjamin Morrison and both did a good job of containing Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins of the Bengals. Boston should find the going tough against the Bucs in a passing attack that is much less formidable than the Bengals.
Boston is a talented receiver and could do the most damage of the Browns receivers in this game, but there is not much that is trustworthy within the Browns' passing attack at the moment.
Kayshon Boutte, Houston Texans
Houston Texans wide receiver Kayshon Boutte only made one catch in Week 1, but he'll need to be much more involved in Week 2, since Nico Collins (hamstring) is out. In his Texans debut, Boutte played 46% of snaps in Week 1, which was the third-highest total of Houston's WRs.
He only had two targets and made one catch for 21 yards. C.J. Stroud will have to lean on Boutte, Jayline Noel, and Xavier Hutchinson much more in Week 2 after Collins dominated the target share with 10 looks in Week 1. Boutte definitely brings potential as a boom-or-bust deep-ball specialist, and more chances could result in him stepping into a larger role in Houston's offense for the rest of the year.
He has a high ceiling without Collins, but he's still only RotoBaller's WR No. 46, so he's still only worth starting in deep leagues or if you are desperate for a FLEX play.
Adonai Mitchell, New York Jets
New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell only saw three targets in the opener, but he caught all three for 60 yards and gave the Jets their biggest play of the day with a 40-yard reception. That is probably the fantasy case with Mitchell right now.
Garrett Wilson is going to dominate targets, and New York showed it is comfortable playing with multiple tight ends on the field, so volume may come and go. Still, Omar Cooper Jr. has been ruled out, which should help keep Mitchell on the field against Green Bay. He is WR61 in RotoBaller's Week 2 rankings and does not need to be forced into normal starting lineups.
In deeper leagues, though, the downfield role gives him enough of a ceiling to be interesting.
Pat Bryant, Denver Broncos
While the Broncos' top wide receivers, Jaylen Waddle and Courtland Sutton, struggled to get going during last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Pat Bryant's performance was encouraging. The 2025 third-round pick was targeted six times and came away with four receptions for 42 yards in Week 1. While he faces a challenging matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars' secondary in Week 2, Bryant may be a consideration for fantasy managers down the road.
The second-year pro finished his rookie year with 31 receptions for 378 yards, and he is on pace to exceed those marks after a productive first game of the season. Bryant is RotoBaller's 63rd-ranked wide receiver this week, but he is a sneaky riser candidate moving forward.
Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley rushed 15 times for 83 yards and added one reception that went for minus-three yards in a Week 1 victory over the rival Washington Commanders. Barkley did not find the end zone and was a non-factor in the passing game, but he did average 5.5 yards per carry, thanks in large part to his long run of 42 yards on the day.
Unsurprisingly, Barkley dominated snaps (39) and touches in Philadelphia's backfield in Week 1, and that will continue with a Week 2 matchup on the road against the Tennessee Titans. This is a big opportunity for Barkley, as the Titans gave up 152 rushing yards and two touchdowns to the New York Jets in Week 1, including allowing running back Breece Hall to rush for 102 yards and a touchdown.
That mark ranked the Titans just 26th in the NFL after one game, although Tennessee's 3.9 yards per carry allowed actually ranked 12th in Week 1. Heading into the contest with the Titans, Barkley checks in as RotoBaller's No. 9 running back in Week 2 (half-PPR scoring).
He is projected to score 15.3 points against the Titans, and RotoBaller has assigned Barkley a strong Week 2 matchup rating of 116.3. Barkley should absolutely be in all lineups.
