When Will Davante Adams Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 17 (2025)

Davante Adams - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

When will Davante Adams return and play? Will Davante Adams be back again this season? Read the latest Davante Adams injury updates and return date for Week 17 (2025).

The Rams offense has been one of the best in the NFL this season, with Matthew Stafford leading a strong passing game that has propelled the team to an 11-4 record and a playoff spot. The passing game was already effective, but was buoyed even more by the addition of Davante Adams this past offseason.

The Rams signed Adams as a free agent this past offseason, and the veteran receiver has been a key target for the team, especially near the end zone. In Week 15 against the Lions, Adams exited early with a hamstring injury, which forced him to miss the team's Week 16 showdown with the Seahawks.

When will Davante Adams return to action, and what is his fantasy football outlook when he does? Let's dive in.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Davante Adams Injury Update

Adams was playing through a hamstring injury coming into the Week 15 matchup against the Lions. Then, he went down, grabbing at the back of his leg while running a deep route in the fourth quarter. After staying on the ground for a moment, the veteran gingerly made his way back to the bench and eventually went to the locker room with trainers and did not return.

The Rams had a short week before facing the Seahawks on Thursday night, so Adams wasn't able to make that quick turnaround. He was listed as doubtful after not practicing and ultimately ruled out for the game the Rams lost in overtime.

When asked about Adams' Week 17 availability, head coach Sean McVay said he will "most likely not play." He did say, though, that Adams is making progress towards a return, and he would not rule the receiver out at this point.

It definitely helps that the Rams have a long week before facing the Falcons on Monday night in Week 17. However, the Rams can afford to be cautious with the veteran and let him fully heal before bringing him back for the playoffs. While it isn't final yet, it looks most likely that Adams will miss this week as well to be fully healthy for the postseason.

Davante Adams Fantasy Football Outlook

Adams still leads the NFL with 14 touchdowns in his 14 games and has a three-touchdown lead over Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is currently in second. Adams scored those 14 touchdowns on 60 catches for 789 yards while averaging 56.4 yards per game.

If he returns in the playoffs, he'll be a key contributor for the Rams in their postseason run and brings massive touchdown upside since he's a go-to option near the goal line.

He's most likely finished contributing to your season-long fantasy team, so be sure to have other options in place for Week 17 if you have a meaningful matchup on the schedule. With him playing on Monday, you may have to make an early call to go with another option.

In Adams' absence, Puka Nacua feasted against Seattle, catching 12 of his 16 targets for 225 yards and two touchdowns. He'll be in for another big workload this week against the Falcons if Adams is out and could prove to be a league-winner in many formats.

Xavier Smith had the second-most receiving yards on the team with two catches for 57 yards, while Konata Mumpfield finished second on the team with eight targets, catching three passes for 40 yards. Mumpfield and Smith can be DFS or deep-league flier plays if Adams is out again this week, as seems likely to be the case.
