Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 13:
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell posted another solid fantasy effort in Week 12's loss to the hosting Chicago Bears, making the team's backfield situation less clear than it was a few weeks ago. Gainwell might not have had as much success as a receiver on Sunday as he did in Week 11's win, though he's now logged at least six receptions in back-to-back games and four or more in three of four.
The 26-year-old's elevated workload in Pittsburgh's win over Cincinnati two Sundays ago can be explained away by teammate Jaylen Warren's mid-game injury. However, it's notable that Gainwell retained his passing game role with Warren fully healthy, particularly because offensive coordinator Arthur Smith sang the praises of the former earlier in the week.
As it stands, both Steelers' RBs may boast a bit of value. However, Gainwell currently plays a more valuable part in PPR leagues. It's a backfield worth monitoring ahead of the fantasy playoffs.
Devin Neal, RB, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints rookie running back Devin Neal is expected to have his first career start in Week 13, with starting running back Alvin Kamara injured. Kamara suffered a MCL sprain in Week 12, which could sideline him for some time.
After the veteran left in the first half, Neal had seven carries for 18 yards, while adding 43 yards on five receptions against the Atlanta Falcons. With Kendre Miller (ACL) done for the season and Kamara banged up, Neal will carry the load, with former Broncos back Audric Estime handling the backup role.
The Saints have a very favorable upcoming schedule, including Week 13's game against the Miami Dolphins, who have allowed the fourth most rushing yards this season. If Kamara's out, Neal offers RB2 value in Week 13 in his first career start.
Aaron Jones, RB, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. finished Sunday with 41 yards on nine carries and caught three of four targets for 19 yards as the Vikings lost convincingly, 23-6, on Sunday at Green Bay.
Jones did well enough in his limited usage, but the Vikings ran only 45 plays and gained 145 total yards, which included a total of four yards in the second half. Minnesota surrendered five sacks, quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw two more interceptions without a touchdown, and the Vikings committed a special teams turnover that doomed the day.
Fantasy managers still got something from Jones, even on an awful day, which is the closest thing to a silver lining the Vikings have at the moment. Minnesota will travel to Seattle in Week 13.
Chris Rodriguez, RB, Washington Commanders
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins averaged a paltry 2.9 yards per carry and had 47 rushing yards on 16 carries in the 24-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but he saved his day for fantasy managers by scoring twice on the ground in the first half in Week 12.
The 22-year-old was not targeted in the passing game and has not caught a pass in the last two games. Judkins also suffered a head injury in the fourth quarter and was sent to the medical tent, but he was cleared before the end of the contest. The Ohio State product's head injury allowed Dylan Sampson to get some run late in the contest, and he took advantage of it by ripping off a 66-yard touchdown catch.
Judkins hasn't been very efficient on the ground in the last three games, but as long as he's healthy enough to play in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers, where he'll remain an RB2 play in fantasy football.
