Sam Darnold fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 4 (2024). Should you start or sit Sam Darnold for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold has everything he needs to succeed and has proven it. He's the QB4 after three games and has an elite variety of weapons to throw to as well as a well-run offense. He also benefits from a good offensive line. Darnold is a must-start.
That said, he faces one of the tougher defenses in the NFL in the Green Bay Packers. The signing of safety Xavier McKinney in the offseason has given the Packers a boost that's made them the 11th-best defense vs quarterbacks in fantasy scoring.
They've allowed just 15 points per game to opposing quarterbacks and caught seven interceptions along the way. Darnold is still a fine start though. WR Justin Jefferson is uncoverable, and Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell is likely to be able to scheme his guys open and give Darnold plenty of good looks.

Solid quarterbacks in great offensive environments with a good offensive line and at least one elite receiver are usually safe bets to start. Darnold doesn't have rushing upside, but he's shown a high potential for throwing touchdowns and has shown clear top-5 weekly scoring potential. Start Darnold this week.
