Mike Trout - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

Fantasy baseball injury updates and injury reports for MLB hitters as of 7/10/2024, including Rafael Devers, Oneil Cruz, Mike Trout, Jorge Soler, Giancarlo Stanton, Kris Bryant, and more.

As MLB All-Star festivities approach, there is still a slate of games to get through, and injuries will affect fantasy baseball lineup decisions. That said, let's take a look at injured hitters Rafael Devers, Oneil Cruz, Mike Trout, Jorge Soler, Giancarlo Stanton, Kris Bryant, and more.

This is our weekly edition of fantasy baseball injury updates for hitters, as of July 10, 2024. Some players on this list impact fantasy baseball more than others, but with leagues of all shapes and sizes, you never know which guys will be important in lineups.

Rafael Devers Injury Update

The Boston Red Sox informed Major League Baseball on Tuesday that third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulder) isn't going to the All-Star Game next week so that he can rest his nagging left shoulder. Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg will replace Devers on the American League All-Star roster. Devers' left shoulder hasn't bothered him too much so far in July, as he's gone 9-for-24 (.375) with three home runs, a triple, 10 RBI, five walks, a stolen base and seven runs scored in six games, including homering three times in the last two games in the Bronx over the weekend against the division-rival New York Yankees.

The 27-year-old did miss a few games in April due to his shoulder and he has started every game since June 11, so Boston wants to give him some extra rest next week. The Dominican slugger entered Tuesday's contest with a strong .293/.378/.593 slash line with a .971 OPS, 21 homers and 55 RBI in 77 games. He's one of the best hitters in the game.

Oneil Cruz Injury Update

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz (hamstring) was held out Tuesday against the hosting division-rival Milwaukee Brewers after he was forced to leave Monday's series finale against the New York Mets early due to hamstring tightness. For now, fantasy managers should continue to regard Cruz as day-to-day.

The 25-year-old Cruz has gotten off to a good start in July, so hopefully, his hamstring issue doesn't end up sending him to the injured list heading into the All-Star break. In seven games in July so far, he's gone 8-for-24 (.333) with two homers, a double, five RBI, one steal, and four runs scored in 27 trips to the plate.

Mike Trout Injury Update

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (knee) hit soft toss on the field before Monday's series opener against the visiting Texas Rangers and said he should progress to batting practice in a few days. Trout also jogged on the field for the first time on Monday. The running progression is the most important part of his recovery from surgery on his left meniscus. He will continue to build up daily and believes he'll be back in late July. More specifically, Trout took 30 swings and jogged with no pain. He's been running straight lines right now and has also been pain-free when swinging.

The next step will be changing direction while running. The 32-year-old perennial All-Star has been out since May, and the Angels aren't going to rush him back amidst another lost season, so fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if we don't see Trout come off the injured list until August. He had 10 homers in 126 plate appearances before his injury but was also hitting just .220.

Jorge Soler Injury Update

San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler (illness) is sick, but he could be available off the bench for Tuesday's series opener against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. Considering Soler may be able to pinch-hit on Tuesday, there's a good chance fantasy managers can get him back available for Wednesday's matchup against Toronto.

The veteran slugger is hitting just .224 (64-for-286) with 10 home runs, 32 RBI, and 45 runs scored during his first year with the Giants. Thairo Estrada has moved to designated hitter and is leading off in San Fran's lineup against Jays left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, and Brett Wisely has entered the starting nine at second base.

Giancarlo Stanton Injury Update

New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) should be "getting to the point where he's getting ready to play" after the All-Star break, manager Aaron Boone said before Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. Stanton resumed treadmill activities on June 27, but he has yet to begin on-field activities.

It sounds like the 34-year-old veteran slugger is preparing to ramp up his baseball activities when play resumes late next week following the Midsummer Classic, and he could go on a minor-league rehab assignment later this month. Stanton is recovering from a strained left hamstring, but he should still have a chance to return to the Yankees before the end of July.

Xander Bogaerts Injury Update

San Diego Padres second baseman Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) appears on track to return from the 10-day injured list for the final series before next week's All-Star break this weekend at home against the visiting Atlanta Braves. Bogaerts will likely face live pitching at Petco Park and play in a minor-league game or two with Single-A Lake Elsinore before being activated from the IL. The 31-year-old veteran middle infielder has been out since late May with a fractured left shoulder but has already gone 2-for-11 in four rehab games with Triple-A El Paso and is on the verge of a return to the big-league lineup.

When Bogaerts does return, he'll be eased back in as San Diego's starting second baseman, which will push Jake Cronenworth back to first base and Luis Arraez back to designated-hitter duties. Before his injury, Bogaerts was of little help to fantasy managers, slashing .219/.265/.316 with a pathetic .581 OPS, four homers, 14 RBI and four steals in 187 at-bats.

Kris Bryant Injury Update

Colorado Rockies outfielder/infielder Kris Bryant (rib, oblique) took full batting practice ahead of Monday's game against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park for the first time since getting injured on June 2. Bryant, who missed his 64th total game this season on Monday, said he wished the timing were such that he could return before the mid-July All-Star break, but it's likely to happen afterward.

That's probably because he still needs to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the Rockies, which will now likely begin in late July rather than sometime this week. Before going on the injured list for the second time this year, the 32-year-old former All-Star went just 16-for-86 (.186) with two home runs, 10 RBI, and five runs scored and makes for a weak stash in fantasy leagues. Jasson Dominguez Injury Update

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez (oblique) is at the club's complex in Tampa Bay but has been limited in his activities, manager Aaron Boone said before Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. Boone relayed that Dominguez's workload is "not much of anything yet" and that he "still has got a ways to go there."

Barring a significant injury to a member of New York's outfield, it's beginning to sound like Dominguez isn't going to be much of a factor in the 2024 regular season. The 21-year-old top prospect is recuperating from a significant left oblique strain and probably won't be available to the Yankees until sometime in September after an eventual minor-league rehab assignment, so fantasy managers in redraft leagues without many stash spots might want to consider cutting bait at this point.

Junior Caminero Injury Update

Tampa Bay Rays top prospect Junior Caminero (quadriceps) will start a rehab assignment in the Florida Complex League on Tuesday. The No. 3 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline, last played on May 28 for Triple-A Durham before suffering a Grade 2 left-quadriceps strain. Caminero has been limited to 34 games in the minors in 2024 and has hit .261/.333/.478 with an .812 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI and 19 runs scored in 153 plate appearances for the Bulls.

The 21-year-old made his major-league debut in 2023 and went 8-for-34 (.235) with a homer and seven RBI in seven games played. His quad injury has set him back a bit this year, and he's likely to head back to Durham when his rehab assignment is over. However, it would be a surprise if Caminero isn't brought up to the big leagues again at some point in the second half of 2024.

Jordan Beck Injury Update

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Jordan Beck (hand) was set to go back to Arizona on Sunday to begin full baseball activities. Beck has been with the Rockies since July 2 after getting his cast off a couple weeks prior. "He hit today in the cage, looked good," manager Bud Black said on Sunday. "He's doing defensive drills.

When he gets clearance to really swing the bat with intensity and authority and he's game ready, then it's just a matter of him getting his repetitions and then we'll see how he does." In his first 23 games in the big leagues earlier this year, Beck hit just .190 with two homers, eight RBI, one walk and 30 strikeouts. The 23-year-old is ranked as the Rockies' No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but they may send him back to the minors for a while once his rehab assignment is up before giving him another run at major-league pitching.
