The holidays are here, and if you're like me, you probably waited until the last minute to start cleaning and running errands before the in-laws show up. Fantasy football can feel the same way in December. You didn't mean to wait until the last minute, but now you're struggling with which kicker to start.

You start them, only to get the gift of a goose egg.
If you're in the finals, you don't need the No. 1 kicker. You just need someone steady enough to avoid a dud. Let's look at the kickers who'll be bringing holiday cheer and those who'll most likely find coal in their stockings.

Kicker Streamers to Target for Week 17
Only kickers rostered in fewer than 60% of fantasy football leagues are considered streamers.
Andy Borregales (NE) at New York Jets
10% Rostered
One of the more appealing streamer spot starts of the week is Borregales, as New England is a favorite against the struggling Jets. New York has now dealt with three straight blowout losses, most recently falling 29-6 to the Saints.
New England is very competitive this season with a 12-3 record, winning 11 of their last 12 games. Borregales has been among the league leaders this season, knocking in 26-of-29 field goals and 42-of-44 extra points.

Their contest with the Jets sets up nicely for Borregales. NYJ concedes the most fantasy points per game to kickers, so he's a top streamer.
The only real concern is the weather. MetLife can turn windy and wintry fast, so this is one to monitor on Sunday morning. If conditions stay fair, Borregales projects to be one of the busier kickers this weekend. If the wind acts up, proceed with some caution.
Evan McPherson (CIN) vs. Arizona Cardinals
40% Rostered
If you're searching for a great matchup, Cincinnati should be ahead for most (if not all) of their upcoming contest. When that happens, McPherson will be fed steady work.
McPherson has demonstrated season-long consistency, going 24-for-27 on field goals and a perfect 37-for-37 on extra points. He's also shown his big leg, connecting from 63 yards out. The upside is there, and it's not just chip shots.

This week, he'll face an Arizona team that continues to struggle, sitting at 3-12. They regularly get taken advantage of in games, and Cincinnati should control the pace in this one.
If the Bengals settle for points and avoid unnecessary risks, McPherson will benefit. Cincinnati should sustain drives and opt to take points, making him a comfortable start for the championship week.
Michael Badgley (BUF) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
14% Rostered
Here's a volume play tied to one of the league's best offenses. Buffalo continues to score at a high rate and is fighting for playoff seeding. Their offense will continue rolling, so whoever kicks for the Bills should see their workload increase.
Matt Prater and Tyler Bass were both out on Sunday, and Badgley was elevated to fill in. He only posted five fantasy points in Week 16, connecting on 2-of-3 extra points and his only field goal try.

In eight games, Badgley is 11-for-12 on field goals and has converted 20-of-24 extra point attempts. The extra point percentage isn't perfect, but he gets to use his leg a lot when active.
The upcoming contest with the Eagles is projected to be back-and-forth. Badgley's usage in this game means you can survive if he misses. Plenty of field goal and extra point tries are likely, so he deserves to be on the fantasy radar. If Prater can't go on Sunday, he's a solid streamer.
Kickers to Avoid for Week 17
Nick Folk (NYJ) vs New England Patriots
3% Rostered
Accuracy hasn't been an issue with Folk this season. He's been excellent when needed, converting 27-of-28 field goal tries and is a perfect 21-of-21 on extra points. The problem is, as it has been all season, opportunity.
The Jets' offense has been in shambles, and stalled drives end in punts instead of field goals. It's hard to score fantasy points when the offense can't get in range.
New England is still playing competitively for playoff positioning, and this game will be another challenge for the Jets. The potential for wind gusts and winter conditions at MetLife adds another wrinkle to Folk's fantasy production.
Folk is a good kicker, but his team holds him back. Fantasy points don't just come from being accurate, as volume plays a big part. It's best to stream a kicker with better projected volume this week.
Daniel Carlson (LV) vs. New York Giants
9% Rostered
Even when the matchups seem positive, the Raiders continue to hinder Carlson's fantasy value. Las Vegas is dead last in scoring and yards per game, displaying how difficult it's been to get in Carlson's range.
Carlson used to be money, but now he's struggling when opportunities are given to him. He's knocked in 17-of-22 field goals this season and just 3-of-6 from beyond 50 yards. His miss risk, plus the low volume, is a rough combination for the championship.
Allegiant Stadium does help kicking conditions, but it doesn't magically move the offense into field goal range. Despite facing a Giants squad that gives up points to kickers, if the Raiders can't sustain drives, it only lowers his ceiling.
You'll probably get a handful of points from Carlson, but nothing that helps you win the championship. This is a week where it's advised to pivot to a kicker with guaranteed volume.
Zane Gonzalez (ATL) vs. Los Angeles Rams
3% Rostered
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be a week worth starting Gonzalez. Atlanta enters the week with a mid-implied total, while the Rams continuously put up points. That's not ideal for the kicker's usage in Week 17.
When a team falls behind early, they often chase touchdowns instead of settling for three. That's been one of the problems with Gonzalez this season, as low-opportunity games keep piling up.
He did what he was supposed to in Week 16. Gonzalez connected on a key field goal against Arizona, but single-field-goal games continue to highlight the problem. He's 13-for-15 on field goals and 13-for-14 on extra points, but the fantasy value hasn't been there.
They'll be playing in a dome, which is always nice for kickers. Still, opportunity matters most, and that might not come this week. It projects to be a game where Gonzalez is limited to extra points, making him a risky play with better streamers available.
