Kareem Hunt Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups
Kareem Hunt may not have the same high-scoring fantasy role that we enjoyed for years, but he has proven that he can be a relevant player in fantasy lineups in 2025. Hunt spent the first eight weeks of the season splitting the backfield with Isiah Pacheco but has taken on the role of Kansas City’s lead back in the last two games with Pacheco sidelined the last two games.
Hunt is averaging a 79.2% snap share in the last two games, carrying the ball 24 times for 108 yards and two touchdowns during that time. The veteran running back has scored a touchdown in three straight games and is up to six rushing touchdowns (and one receiving score) this season.
The Kansas City Chiefs hoped that Pacheco would return to the lineup in Week 11, but he did not log a single practice heading into the team’s matchup against the Denver Broncos. Pacheco’s injury (a sprained MCL) typically takes four weeks to heal, so on the surface, it seems like he will be a long shot to play in Week 12 as well. Over the last two seasons, Hunt has seen his role in Kansas City's offense dramatically improve with Pacheco sidelined.
The looming threat of Pacheco’s return makes it hard to prioritize Hunt on the waiver wire, but if Pacheco is out, then Hunt will assuredly receive the volume necessary to have fantasy value.
Trey Benson Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups
Trey Benson underwhelmed as a rookie in 2024, but the stars were seemingly aligning for him to have a bigger role in his second season. Benson received consistent praise from the coaching staff and teammates throughout the summer.
The second-year running back had an increased role in the team’s first three weeks (21 carries for 125 yards and eight receptions for 45 yards), but caught a major break when James Conner suffered a season-ending injury. Benson was expected to take on the lead-back role the rest of the season.
In Benson’s first game as the starter, he racked up eight carries for 35 yards and caught five receptions for 19 yards. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury that limited him to just 37 snaps. Shortly after the game, he was placed on the injured reserve.
Benson was eligible to return from the injured reserve in Week 10, but has yet to resume practicing. The Arizona Cardinals have gotten uneven results from multiple running backs in his absence, but none have performed well enough to take the job from Benson outright when healthy.
There is hope that the second-year running back can resume practicing this week and make his way back to the field as soon as Week 12. Benson is worth a speculative add in fantasy in case he resumes his role as Arizona’s three-down back once he’s healthy.
Tyjae Spears Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups
Tyjae Spears missed the first four weeks of the season on injured reserve, but has performed well since returning in Week 5. Spears has at least four carries in every game he’s been active this season. He has at least three targets, three receptions, and 18 receiving yards over his last five games as well.
Spears has yet to have a truly big week for fantasy (to be fair, few players on the Titans’ offense have), but he’s the primary pass-catching back on a team that is consistently playing from behind. Spears has logged at least a 43% snap share in five straight games, including three weeks where he had a 50% or higher snap share.
Spears will remain in some form of timeshare in the backfield as long as Tony Pollard is healthy, but he has the explosiveness to take any touch the distance. That said, he is a highly volatile player in fantasy due to his limited overall volume.
