Fantasy Football Playoffs QB Rankings Outlooks

Josh Johnson, Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders quarterback Josh Johnson will make the start on Christmas Day on Thursday versus the division-rival Dallas Cowboys, according to The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala. Jeff Driskel will serve as the backup with Marcus Mariota (hand, quadriceps) unable to play following his injury on Saturday night in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Normal starter Jayden Daniels (elbow) has already been shut down for the rest of the year. This will be Johnson's first NFL start since Week 17 of the 2021 season with the Baltimore Ravens.

The 39-year-old journeyman went 5-for-9 passing for 43 yards and an ugly interception in Week 16 after taking over for the injured Mariota. The matchup this week against Dallas' porous defense is friendly, but Johnson still won't be much more than a desperation QB2 option for fantasy managers in superflex leagues with everything on the line in championship matchups.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (concussion) will practice again on Wednesday but remains in the league's concussion protocol, according to head coach Matt LaFleur. Love was listed as limited on the team's first injury report of the week on Tuesday after he was forced from Saturday night's loss to the Chicago Bears with a concussion. The 27-year-old signal-caller appears to be making some progress, but he's still very much up in the air to be cleared to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 on Saturday.

Backup Malik Willis (shoulder) is also questionable to play after getting injured after he replaced Love in Week 16 in Chicago. If both Love and Willis aren't able to play against Baltimore, the Packers would be forced to go with Clayton Tune under center this weekend. Love's status could be a game-time decision on Saturday.

Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough has been playing really well of late, scoring 17 or more fantasy points in five of his last six starts. What is providing him a safe floor during this stretch is that he is averaging five rush attempts per contest and has built an excellent rapport with wide receiver Chris Olave and tight end Juwan Johnson.

For the season (nine games), Shough has thrown for 1,792 yards, completing 66 percent of his passes, thrown for seven touchdowns and five interceptions, and has rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Depending on his matchup for the week, he is borderlining the QB1 ranks, but given his limited experience and upside, he usually finds himself in the QB2 ranks. Shough is a solid Superflex (two-quarterback play) and should be viewed as a higher-end QB2 in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans, who are vulnerable against the passing game.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has completed 60.8% of his passes for 1,082 yards and 12 touchdown passes while adding 112 yards and a couple of scores on the ground in the hottest four-game stretch of his career. Lawrence also hasn't turned the ball over in a career-best four straight games, which have all been wins. "He's able to just go out and play freely," head coach Liam Coen said, "now that he's more comfortable with the operation." The former first overall pick threw three touchdowns and ran one in during the impressive 34-20 victory in Denver against the Broncos on Sunday.

The Jags have averaged 33 points per game since Week 9, second-most in the league during that span. "We haven't changed a single thing from the moment we started coaching him," Coen said. "Sometimes, it just takes time to click." Now that he's clicking in Coen's offense, Lawrence will look to keep his hot streak going in Week 17 against the division-rival Indianapolis Colts, where he'll be a midrange QB1 in fantasy football.

Justin Fields, New York Jets

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced on Tuesday that quarterback Justin Fields (knee) will be placed on Injured Reserve, ending his 2025 season. Fields will be shut down for the final two games of the season after already missing each of the last three contests due to a knee injury. Before the 26-year-old injured his knee, he had been benched in favor of veteran Tyrod Taylor. It was an extremely disappointing 2025 campaign for Fields, who was brought in as a free agent last offseason to be the Jets' starter this year.

Fields ended up making only nine starts, completing 62.7% of his 204 pass attempts for 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception. He ran for 383 yards and four touchdowns on 71 attempts while also losing three fumbles. If he remains with the Jets in 2026, Fields will have to show lots of improvement to be in contention to win the starting gig back.

Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers will remain the starting quarterback for the Week 17 matchup against the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Shane Steichen confirmed on Tuesday that Rivers would make his third straight start this weekend. The 44-year-old has earned himself another start after a promising outing during Monday's blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Rivers has performed fairly well against two tough teams and will get at least one more start with the Colts technically still in playoff contention. The veteran signal-caller will be on the lower end of the streaming radar for this Sunday's game against the streaking Jags. In Monday night's loss to San Fran, Rivers went 23-for-35 passing for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
