Week 4 Quarterback Outlooks for Fantasy Football
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed just 15 passes (out of 27 attempts) last week, but he passed for a season-high 297 yards and four touchdowns in the team's 36-30 win over the Cardinals. Purdy is now up to 789 yards on the season, has a 72.3% completion percentage, and a league-leading nine passing touchdowns. Purdy may be without Mike Evans (ribs) in San Francisco's upcoming matchup with the Broncos, as the wide receiver is managing a rib injury sustained last weekend and will be a game-time decision on Sunday.
Even without Evans, Purdy should remain an effective fantasy option, as he will still have Deebo Samuel Sr., George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey at his disposal. Last week, Denver surrendered 390 passing yards and two touchdowns to Matt Stafford. Purdy is the overall QB2 after three weeks and projects as a top-five option in Week 4.
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford had already been producing high fantasy totals over the last two weeks, and now, his ceiling will soar even higher as he gets his top target back for Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Superstar wide receiver Puka Nacua has been cleared to play after a two-week absence due to a hip injury. Stafford will now benefit from having the league's best one-two punch in Nacua and Davante Adams. Although Nacua is the bigger name here, Adams filled in admirably with the 25-year-old sidelined. Over the last two weeks, Adams has 15 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns.
The veteran will return to his role as the No. 2 receiver in Los Angeles, but both he and Nacua are still in must-start consideration for Week 4. The same goes for Stafford, who gets to reap the benefits of throwing to some of the best receivers in the NFL. We're also intrigued by this matchup against the Eagles, who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Philadelphia has yet to intercept a pass, and its defense most recently surrendered 247 yards and three total touchdowns to quarterback Case Keenum. The stars are aligning for another big QB1 performance from Stafford in fantasy football.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Three games into his 2026 season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has completed 70.6% of his pass attempts for 806 yards, eight touchdowns, and zero interceptions. With the Lions' defense struggling, Goff is averaging 36.3 pass attempts per game and has led the Detroit offense to three straight 30-plus-point performances. In Week 4, Goff and the Lions could find themselves in another high-scoring affair against the Carolina Panthers.
Carolina has been fairly stingy against the pass so far this season, allowing the fifth-fewest yards per pass attempt (6.1) in the NFL. However, the Panthers placed starting cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (quad) and Mike Jackson (groin) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday. If Carolina's offense torches Detroit's 32nd-ranked pass defense, Goff could turn to the air early and often against the Panthers' banged-up secondary. Fantasy managers should view Goff as a solid QB1 option in Week 4.
Kyler Murray, Minnesota Vikings
After a mostly lackluster first full game with the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Kyler Murray faces an excellent matchup against the struggling Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The former Arizona Cardinal looked jittery and didn't provide much of an immediate upgrade to a Minnesota passing game that has thrown for fewer yards than any other team, but he'll step into friendlier circumstances against the Dolphins this week.
Miami is 30th in the NFL in pressure percentage, still doesn't have a sack this season, and has allowed points on 50% of their opponents' possessions. Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson (ankle) is out again after missing the majority of last week's game, but the matchup is good enough that Murray is worth considering in most formats against the Dolphins. He's RotoBaller's QB13 for Week 4.
Kirk Cousins, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins has been a surprise success through three weeks, but will face his toughest test in Week 4 when the Kansas City Chiefs visit Sin City. The veteran signal-caller is tied for the most TD passes through three weeks (nine), with a 67.4% completion rate, 661 yards, and just three interceptions. Though Cousins has an 8:1 TD:INT ratio against the Chiefs in his career, he is also 0-5 against them. Plus, Kansas City has a top-10 defense that allows just 178.3 passing yards per game.
Cousins is still a solid waiver-wire add in two-quarterback fantasy leagues, but is a very high-risk play against this tough divisional opponent. Fantasy managers in standard formats should look for better matchups on their Sunday slates.
